Glow Discharge Resonance

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1955
The characteristics of glow discharges in argon and other rare gases excited by an audio-frequency alternating potential and by a direct potential modulated with an audio-frequency signal are described. When the frequency of the alternating potential is of the same order of magnitude as the frequency of the spontaneous oscillations present in these ...

The localisation of the discharge channel in a glow discharge

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1957
The localisation of the discharge channel under the conditions of a glow discharge in air, at different distances from the cathode and at various points in the cathode dark space for different voltages, has been studied by measuring the radial distribution of the light intensity in the discharge channel.

Stability of glow discharge

Journal of Applied Physics, 1982
A macroscopic mathematical model is developed which describes the time-dependent behavior of the positive column of a weakly ionized electric discharge. This model is solved for the steady state, including the effects of Joule heating. These steady-state solutions are then perturbed and their stability with respect to the small disturbances is studied.

Initiation of Glow Discharges

Nature, 1943
THE form of the breakdown voltage/pressure curve for various gases in the pressure range 0–5 cm. mercury has been established by several investigators. The breakdown voltage usually measured is that at which a galvanometer in series with the experimental tube indicates a current of 0–1 microamp.
