Factors affecting the self-monitoring of blood glucose levels in Aboriginal patients: findings from a remote community

open access: yes, 2017
Objective: Despite self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) being highly recommended it appears that many Aboriginal patients do not conduct SMBG. This study investigated factors affecting SMBG in rural and remote Aboriginal patients.

Antibody‐Precomplexed Hemagglutinin Constructs Multivalently Bind Sialylated Glycan Receptors with Variable Valencies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Hemagglutinin precomplexation with antibodies (Abs) results in broad valency distributions, though it increases the total avidity from mM to nM to high nM. The valency distribution and the orientation of multivalent HA‐Ab complexes determine the extent of binding to different types of assays, whether the receptors are displayed in 2D or 3D.

Scalable Fabrication of Chemically Stabilized Gelatin Hydrogel Fibers by Thermal Drawing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Scalable processing of hydrogel fibers remains a major challenge. By coupling thermal drawing with Maillard chemistry, a transient viscous‐flow window is created that enables continuous fabrication of microstructured gelatin fibers tens of meters long, while continued in situ crosslinking during drawing stabilizes the fibers for physiological ...
