Influence of Gender on the Mechanical and Physical Properties of Hemp Shiv Fiber Cell Wall in Dioecious Hemp Plant

open access: yesBioResources, 2015
Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) shiv has great potential for the production of bio-composites as a reinforcement material. To gain more information about hemp shiv, this research studied the influence of gender on the physical and mechanical properties of the ...

Exploring the Phase Structure and Thermodynamics of QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We put forward a Polyakov-loop extended quark meson model, where matter as well as glue fluctuations are taken into account, cf. [1]. The latter are included via a Polyakov-loop potential. Usually such a glue potential is based on Yang-Mills lattice data

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Automatic calibration of SWMM parameters based on multi-objective optimisation model

open access: yesJournal of Hydroinformatics
To address the issue of low accuracy and inefficiency in the traditional parameter calibration methods for the SWMM model, this paper constructs an automatic parameter calibration model based on multi-objective optimisation algorithms. Firstly, the Sobol

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Superposition as a logical glue

open access: yes, 2010
The typical mathematical language systematically exploits notational and logical abuses whose resolution requires not just the knowledge of domain specific notation and conventions, but not trivial skills in the given mathematical discipline.

Extended Connectors: Structuring Glue Operators in BIP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Based on a variation of the BIP operational semantics using the offer predicate introduced in our previous work, we extend the algebras used to model glue operators in BIP to encompass priorities.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.
