Bamboo Reinforced Glulam Beams: An Alternative to CFRP Reinforced Glulam Beams
Advanced Materials Research, 2013A research study was undertaken to investigate the mechanical performance of glulam beams reinforced by CFRP or bamboo. Local reinforcement is proposed in order to improve the flexural strength of glulam beams. The glulam beam is strengthened in tension and along its sides with the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer CFRP or bamboo.

A Flexible Adhesive Layer to Strengthen Glulam Beams
Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2010Glulam is manufactured by gluing graded timber boards on top of each other with standard, stiff adhesives to form a beam. The research presented here is concerned with the use of a single flexible adhesive layer at a certain position of the beam cross section instead of the standard, stiff adhesive.

Fire resistance performance of glulam beam
Journal of Central South University, 2017A glulam beam with the size of 4700 mm×300 mm×480 mm (L×W×H) was tested in the furnace to investigate the fire resistance performance of glulam beam according to the temperature curve of ISO834. Three surfaces, the bottom and the two flanks, of the glulam beam were exposed to fire in the test.

Repaired Pitch-Cambered Glulam Beams
Journal of the Structural Division, 1981Full-scale tests were conducted on two radially reinforced Douglas-fir beams. The two beams, each with a span of 30 ft., were tested only to initial failure prior to repairing. The two beams were repaired by radially reinforcing each by a different method. The radial reinforcing was similar to the field repair carried out on beams which fail in service.

Radial Stresses in Curved Glulam Beams
Journal of the Structural Division, 1980A method for estimating the maximum radial tension and compression stresses in curved glulam beams of rectangular cross section is presented. The recommended precedure is based on a parametric study of beams representing a broad range of the key geometric variables and subject to pure bending and uniformly distributed loading.

New constructions of glulam beams in Canada
2011An optimized 24f glulam beam lay-up has been investigated with a series of laboratory testing and computer modeling. The basic ideas of these assessments are to increase the efficient use of timber resource in the glulam construction with integration of reliability based procedures to characterize the specified strengths for the glulam beams.
