Quantum chemical calculations of glycine glutaric acid
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017Density functional theory (DFT) calculations of glycine glutaric acid were performed by using B3LYP levels with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The theoretical structural parameters such as bond lengths and bond angles are in a good agreement with the experimental values of the title compound.

A Raman Study of Crystalline Glutaric Acid
Physica Scripta, 1984Glutaric acid C3H6 (COOH)2 is a member of a series of dicarboxylic acids that form infinite molecular chains linked by double hydrogen bonds in the crystalline state. The β-modification shows an anomaly in the lattice vibrational region. At the discontinuous transition to the α-modification the spectra undergo changes indicative of a unit cell ...

Glutaric aciduria; A “new” disorder of amino acid metabolism
Biochemical Medicine, 1975Abstract Studies are reported on two siblings with a neurodegenerative disorder, glutaric aciduria and glutaric acidemia. The glutaric aciduria was increased by oral administration of l -lysine, which is metabolized through glutaryl-CoA, and decreased by lowering protein intake.

Glutaric acid: A product of tryptophan metabolism
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1959Abstract Previous work in this laboratory (Gholson and Henderson 1958) has shown that a major portion of a test dose of DL-tryptophan-7a-C14 is metabolized by the rat to C14O2 via acetate-1-C14, 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid-2-C14 (3-OHAA) being a probable intermediate (Gholson and Henderson 1959).

Microbial asymmetric hydrolysis of 3-substituted glutaric acid diamides
Journal of Applied Microbiology, 2013Micro-organisms were screened for their ability to produce (R)-3-(4-chlorophenyl) glutaric acid monoamide (CGM) from 3-(4-chlorophenyl) glutaric acid diamide (CGD) through stereoselective hydrolysis. (R)-CGM is a useful synthetic intermediate for arbaclofen.Four CGD-assimilating micro-organisms were found to be potential catalysts for (R)-CGM ...

Glutaric acid moderately compromises energy metabolism in rat brain
International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience, 2005AbstractGlutaric acidemia type I is an inherited metabolic disorder biochemically characterized by tissue accumulation of predominantly glutaric acid (GA). Affected patients present frontotemporal hypotrophy, as well as caudate and putamen injury following acute encephalopathic crises.

Growth of a Neurosporacrassa lysine auxotroph on glutaric acid
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1968Abstract Neurospora crassa lysine auxotroph STL-7, blocked early in the aminoadipic acid pathway of lysine biosynthesis, gives a slow, submaximal growth response to a high level of glutaric acid (20 μmoles/ml) in lieu of lysine. When the mutant is grown with glutarate-l, 5-14C, lysine of the cell proteins is labelled.

Binary homogeneous nucleation in water–succinic acid and water–glutaric acid systems
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004Binary homogeneous nucleation of water–succinic acid and water–glutaric acid systems have been investigated. The numerical approach was based on the classical nucleation theory. Usually, nucleation is discussed in terms of kinetics, but the thermodynamics involved is undoubtedly equally important.
