A hydro‐mechanically‐coupled XFEM model for the injection‐induced evolution of multiple fractures

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 47, Issue 9, Page 1539-1558, 25 June 2023., 2023
Abstract In this paper, a two‐dimensional eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM) solution is presented for the hydro‐mechanically coupled hydro‐frac‐induced propagation of multiple fractures in rocks. Fractures are considered one‐dimensional objects, and the rock matrix is regarded as a two‐dimensional medium.

Seismic Sedimentologic Study on Sequence‐Sediment Evolution in Fault Basin Regions

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
With potential hydrocarbon source rocks, the Mesozoic Lower Cretaceous interval in the Aitegle Sag of the Yingen‐Ejinaqi Basin in China has a bright petroleum exploration prospect. Considering the scarcity of wells in Aitegle Sag, we have systematically carried out the research on the sequence structure and sedimentary system evolution of the Lower ...

Study on Damage Mechanism of Waterflooding Development in Weizhou 11‐4N Low‐Permeability Oilfield

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Weizhou 11‐4N oilfield is a medium‐low‐porosity and low‐permeability reservoir. The oilfield was initially developed by edge and bottom water energy and then transferred to water injection development. Affected by poor physical properties and heterogeneity of the reservoir, the oilfield appeared in the process of water injection development.

Study on Compatibility between Complex Mode Micropore Structure and Polymer Solution of Different Formulation for Conglomerate Reservoir

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
In this paper, the conglomerate reservoir is selected as the object to investigate the micropore structure and the compatibility of polymer solutions. Firstly, the characteristics of complex mode pore structure are analyzed based on casting thin sections, scanning electron microscope, and capillary pressure curve.

[Retracted] Damage of Green Synthetic Cement Slurry to Clastic Rock Reservoir

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Green synthesis and metal oxide composites have attracted much attention from researchers of industry and academia. As a typical application of green synthesis and metal oxide composites, the protection of oil and gas reservoirs is related to various links such as exploration, drilling, completion, and development.

Distribution prediction of the glutenite in Member 3 of Triassic Xujiahe Formation in Yuanba area, northern Sichuan Basin

open access: yesPetroleum Research, 2022
Although the Triassic Xujiahe Formation in Yuanba area of northern Sichuan has a large amount of resources, the proportion of proved reserves to the amount of resources is low. Production of most of the pilot production wells is high at the initial stage,

Extended GOSIM: MPS‐Driven Simulation of 3D Geological Structure Using 2D Cross‐Sections

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2022., 2022
Abstract In the past two decades, algorithms for multiple‐point statistics (MPS) have been applied in many fields. However, 3D training datum or data (TD) is difficult to be obtained. Two‐dimensional geological cross‐sections from boreholes or geophysical data with high reliability are usually used to explain geological phenomena and are relatively ...

Field Investigation on Thermal Regime of Permafrost and Talik in a River Terrace, the Interior of Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
To carry out engineering construction in a permafrost area, it is of great importance to grasp the spatial distribution of permafrost and its hydrothermal characteristics within the scope of engineering activities. Compared with the continuous permafrost area, the permafrost distribution in discontinuous permafrost area is complicated due to existence ...

Quality evaluation of glutenite reservoirs of intergranular - secondary dissolution pore type using a quantitative method

open access: yesEnergy Geoscience, 2022
Glutenite (coarse-grained clastic) reservoirs of intergranular–secondary dissolution pore type are dominated by residual intergranular pores and secondary dissolution pores, and characterized by low porosity, low permeability, strong heterogeneity, and ...

The Fracturing Behavior of Tight Glutenites Subjected to Hydraulic Pressure [PDF]

open access: yesProcesses, 2018
Tight glutenites are typically composed of heterogeneous sandstone and gravel. Due to low or ultra-low permeability, it is difficult to achieve commercial production in tight glutenites without hydraulic fracturing. Efficient exploitation requires an in-depth understanding of the fracturing behavior of these reservoirs.
