MiR‐210‐3p is upregulated in diabetic peripheral neuropathy and may be involved in the progression of the disease by targeting brain‐derived neurotrophic factor

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Elevated miR‐210‐3p expression was diagnostic for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and served as an independent risk factor for DPN. miR‐210‐3p functioned by negatively regulating BDNF, and its inhibitor reversed hyperglycemia‐induced Schwann cell dysfunction, whereas BDNF knockdown eliminated this protective effect.

A machine learning approach to predicting severe diabetes distress in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Diabetes distress is common in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The aim of this study was to construct and validate prediction models for diabetes distress in adults with T1DM using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) metrics. Methods The CGM metrics were collected from 259 adults with T1DM.

Expression profile of circular RNAs in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with retinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a prevalent chronic complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), contributing significantly to vision impairment. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have emerged as key regulators in the pathogenesis of DR.

Effects of short‐term tofogliflozin treatment on the insulin secretory capacity of people with type 2 diabetes: A randomized controlled trial, the TOP‐ELM study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Tofogliflozin was compared with metformin in treatment‐naïve people with type 2 diabetes for 4 weeks. Overall insulin secretory capacity did not improve; however, tofogliflozin was associated with an improved disposition index in individuals with poorer baseline glucose tolerance or greater improvement after treatment.
