Association of the IL‐6R rs2228145 polymorphism with diabetic nephropathy: A case‐control study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and its complications has been previously linked to elevated levels of interleukin‐6 (IL‐6); IL‐6 triggers intracellular pathways through interaction with the IL‐6 receptor (IL‐6R). This study aimed to determine the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) IL‐6 −597G/A ...

Impact of HbA1c variability and time‐in‐range fluctuations on large and small nerve fiber dysfunction in well‐controlled type 2 diabetes: A prospective cohort observational study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Long‐term (HbA1c ARV) and short‐term (TIR ARV) glycemic variability contribute to nerve dysfunction in T2D. High glycemic variability was linked to increased TCNS and altered nerve conduction. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Glycemic variability (GV) is a critical factor in the development of diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSPN).

Clinical use and monitoring of adverse effects of sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors in persons with type 1 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Multiple regression analysis revealed that diuretic use was an independent risk factor for discontinuation of SGLT2i. ABSTRACT Aims This study aimed to evaluate the factors contributing to insulin dosage adjustment and the risk of sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) discontinuation in persons with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) starting ...

The cholesterol‐HDL‐glucose (CHG) index and traditional adiposity markers in predicting diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This study explores the association of visceral adiposity index (VAI) and lipid accumulation product (LAP), markers of visceral adiposity, with diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy. The findings revealed that VAI and LAP values were significantly elevated in diabetic nephropathy but showed no significant association with diabetic retinopathy.

Phenotypic characteristics of diabetic neuropathic pain and factors associated in patients with Diabetes Mellitus‐type 2

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Four phenotypic groups of patients with diabetic neuropathic pain were found. Intensity, duration of pain, and the level of anxiety were the factors associated with belonging to the groups with worse characteristics. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction To identify subgroups of patients with diabetic neuropathic pain according to their phenotypic characteristics
