Activating the Osteoblastic USP26 Pathway Alleviates Multi‐Organ Fibrosis by Decreasing Insulin Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 26 (USP26) in osteoblasts results in decreased bone formation, as well as multi‐organ fibrosis associated with insulin resistance (IR). Mechanistically, the absence of USP26 reduces glycolysis and lactate accumulation, leading to decreased histone H3 lysine 18 lactylation (H3K18LA) in the promoter region of KH ...

Effectiveness of Pre‐Transplant Dual GLP‐1 Receptor Agonist and SGLT2 Inhibitor Therapy on All‐Cause Mortality in Organ Transplantation Candidates with Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes: a Target‐Trial Emulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This target trial emulation in solid organ transplant candidates with obesity and type 2 diabetes evaluates whether pre‐transplant dual therapy with GLP‐1 receptor agonists plus SGLT2 inhibitors is associated with post‐transplant mortality and kidney graft outcomes compared with monotherapy or usual care, using multinational electronic health records ...

An incidental finding of a hemoglobin E variant in a diabetic patient with an abnormal glycated hemoglobin level: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background Glycated hemoglobin is a well-known marker for evaluating long-term glycemic control. However, the accuracy of glycated hemoglobin measurement can be affected by the presence of hemoglobin variants, which makes the determination and ...

Challenges in Estimation of Glycated Hemoglobin in India [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Technology & Therapeutics, 2013
Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is the most widely accepted index of long-term glycemic control. However, there are some clinical situations that make the accurate measurement of HbA1c difficult. Although some of these situations are general, others are more specific to some parts of the world like India. These conditions include hemoglobinopathies such as

Predictive Value of Triglyceride/HDL‐C Ratio for Unplanned Coronary Revascularization in Elderly Patients With Type 2 Diabetes and Coronary Artery Disease: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Elevated TG/HDL‐C ratio independently predicted unplanned coronary revascularization in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes and CAD, highlighting its value as a simple and accessible biomarker for long‐term risk stratification. ABSTRACT Objectives The triglyceride‐to‐high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL‐C) ratio reflects atherogenic ...

Functional Advantage of Central Pancreatectomy Over Distal Pancreatectomy for Benign or Low‐Grade Malignant Tumors: A Comparative Analysis Based on 75‐g Oral Glucose Tolerance Test

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Central pancreatectomy (CP) better preserves postoperative pancreatic endocrine function than distal pancreatectomy for benign or low‐grade malignant tumors. The 75‐g oral glucose tolerance test demonstrated that CP maintained insulin secretion and glucose tolerance, highlighting its clinical advantage as a function‐preserving procedure.
