ABSTRACT Background Individuals with diabetes newly entering long‐term care facilities (LTCFs) encounter changes in care needs and facility and care process‐related factors, which potentially impact diabetes treatment outcomes. This study examined the 12‐month incidence of hospitalizations for hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in residents with diabetes ...

The study focused on the efficacy of different NSPT protocols in subjects with type 2 diabetes and periodontitis.NSPT was more efficacious than oral hygiene alone or associated with supra‐gingival scaling with regard to all periodontal clinical outcomes, including a small effect on HbA1c.

Metabolomic fingerprints analyzed from oral rinses are able to distinguish between severe periodontitis (stage III/IV) patients and non‐periodontitis controls. ABSTRACT Aims To explore the potential of metabolomic profiles of oral rinse samples to distinguish between patients with severe periodontitis (stage III/IV) and non‐periodontitis controls. This

A Principled Framework for Mendelian Randomization in Oral Health Research
This methodological article provides a clear and accessible overview of Mendelian randomization for oral health researchers, emphasizing the core assumptions needed for credible causal inference. Focusing on applications in oral health, particularly periodontitis, it highlights both the strengths and limitations of the study design in order to support ...

Missing the Target: A Scoping Review of the Use of Percent Weight Loss for Obesity Management
ABSTRACT Introduction To co‐create comprehensive targets for obesity management, we need to understand the genesis and current use of percent weight loss targets in research. The goals of our scoping review are to (1) synthesize the literature on percent weight loss targets for adults with obesity and (2) discuss the percent weight loss targets in ...

ABSTRACT Tirzepatide has positive effects on weight loss in individuals with overweight or obesity. Considering its broad side‐effect profile, its efficacy and safety in individuals without diabetes mellitus (DM) are yet to be fully understood. To address this, we conducted a comprehensive meta‐analysis of six randomized trials on individuals with ...

Glycated Hemoglobin in Insulinoma
Endocrine Practice, 1998To determine whether preoperative levels of glycated hemoglobin (GHb) are lower in patients with functioning insulinoma and, if so, whether a distinct separation of GHb values from those in control subjects might serve for diagnosis. We examined preoperative GHb in consecutive patients (who had this measurement done) with surgically confirmed insulinoma

Glycated hemoglobin in hypoglycemia
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1989The effect of hypoglycemia--caused by hyperinsulinism in insulinoma patients and in diabetic patients with frequent episodes of hypoglycemia--on glycated hemoglobin was studied. The amount of sugar bound to total hemoglobin in hypoglycemia samples was found to be significantly lower than in those which were normal or hyperglycemic.

Biological variability of glycated hemoglobin
Clinica Chimica Acta, 2010The measurement of glycated hemoglobin (HbA(1c)) has a pivotal role in monitoring glycemic state in diabetic patients. Furthermore, the American Diabetes Association has recently recommended the use of HbA(1c) for diabetes diagnosis, but a clear definition of the clinically allowable measurement error is still lacking.

Hemoglobin variants and determination of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c)
Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, 2001Measurement of glycated hemoglobin in diabetic patients is an established procedure for evaluating long-term control of diabetes. The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT), as well as the United Kingdom Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS), confirmed the direct relationship between the degree of glycemic control as estimated by glycohemoglobin (
