2017The reaction of sugars, such as glucose and glyceraldehyde, with amino groups of proteins and lipids is enhanced under hyperglycemic conditions. As a result, the formation and accumulation of senescent macroprotein derivatives called advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been known to progress in diabetes.
