Biosynthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol by lipase in dimethyl carbonate as the solvent

Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering, 2010
Glycerol carbonate was synthesized from renewable glycerol and dimethyl carbonate using lipase in solvent-free reaction system in which excess dimethyl carbonate played as the reaction medium. A variety of lipases have been tested for their abilities to catalyze transesterification reaction, and Candida antartica lipase B and Novozyme 435 exhibited ...

Synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate catalyzed by calcined silicates

Applied Catalysis A: General, 2017
Abstract Several anhydrous silicates were prepared by calcination at 400 °C and utilized as solid base catalyst for synthesizing glycerol carbonate (GC) by transesterification of glycerol with dimethyl carbonate (DMC). Among them, calcined sodium silicate showed the best catalytic activity with glycerol conversion of 97.7%.

Synthesis of Glycerol Carbonate from Glycerol and Dimethyl Carbonate Using Ionic Liquid Catalysts

Journal of Biobased Materials and Bioenergy, 2016
Acidic, basic and neutral ionic liquids (ILs) were prepared by two-step method. Their IR and NMR spectra showed that their structures were in accordance with their theoretical structure. Then these ILs were used as catalysts in the Glycerol carbonate (GC) of glycerol with dimethyl carbonate (DMC).

Synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate catalyzed by K2CO3/MgO

Research on Chemical Intermediates, 2011
A series of M/MgO (M = CaO, KNO3, KOH, K2CO3) catalysts were prepared by a dry impregnation method and used for synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate. It was found that K2CO3/MgO was the most efficient catalyst, with a glycerol carbonate yield of approximately 99% under the conditions: DMC/glycerol molar ratio 2.5:1 ...

Transesterification of Glycerol to Glycerol Carbonate Over Alkali Carbonate‐Carbon Hybrid Catalysts

ChemCatChem
AbstractSodium‐containing polymers and rapeseed meal were utilized as precursors for carbon‐inorganic hybrid catalysts offering the advantages of easily accessible raw materials and a straightforward preparation process. The resulting catalysts comprised inorganic components dispersed within a carbonaceous matrix and exhibited basic properties.

Liquid–liquid equilibria for the ternary systems DMC–methanol–glycerol, DMC–glycerol carbonate–glycerol and the quaternary system DMC–methanol–glycerol carbonate–glycerol at catalytic reacting temperatures

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2014
Liquid-liquid equilibria of multicomponent systems involved in the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from dimethyl carbonate and glycerol were experimentally measured. Particularly, data for the ternary systems dimethyl carbonate + methanol + glycerol and dimethyl carbonate + glycerol carbonate + glycerol and the quaternary system dimethyl carbonate ...

Lipase-Catalyzed Resolution of Glycerol 2,3-Carbonate

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1994
Glycerol 2,3-carbonate was resolved via Pseudomonas fluorescens lipase catalyzed acetylation of the racemate and subsequent alcoholysis of the optically enriched acetate product in the presence of the same enzyme. The two reactions, performed in CHCl 3 , gave (R)- and (S)-glycerol 2,3-carbonate respectively in high chemical and optical ...

Ordered mesoporous BaCO3/C-catalyzed synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate

Science China Chemistry, 2014
BaCO3/C composites were synthesized by a multi-component co-assembly method combined with a carbonization process using phenolic resol as carbon source, barium nitrate as barium precursor, and triblock copolymer Pluronic F127 as template. The synthesized materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, N2 physical ...

Lipase-catalyzed synthesis of glycerol carbonate from renewable glycerol and dimethyl carbonate through transesterification

Journal of Molecular Catalysis B: Enzymatic, 2007
Glycerol carbonate is a key multifunctional compound employed as solvent, additive, monomer, and chemical intermediate. Enzymatic synthesis of glycerol carbonate from renewable starting materials (glycerol and dimethyl carbonate) was successfully achieved by immobilized lipase from Candida antarctica (CALB, Novozym 435). Addition of molecular sieves as
