Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

3-Chloropropane-1,2-diol in models simulating processed foods: Precursors and agents causing its decomposition

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2003
Formation of 3-chloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD) was studied in model mixtures consisting of sodium chloride and either glycerol or various lipids (phospholipids, monoacylglycerols, diacylglycerols, triacylglycerols) derived mainly from palmitic and oleic ...

Glycerol carbonate formation from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate using lithium‐based catalysts

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering
AbstractExcess glycerol from biodiesel production can be sustainably converted into value‐added products like glycerol carbonate, for its use in polymers, solvents, and as ecofriendly alternative as green chemical in various chemical industries. This study aims to synthesize a catalyst optimized for the glycerol and dimethyl carbonate (DMC) conversion ...

Qualitative change in structural dynamics of some glass-forming systems

open access: yes, 2015
Analysis of temperature dependence of structural relaxation time in supercooled liquids revealed a qualitatively distinct feature - a sharp, cusp-like maxumum in the second derivative of its logarithm. It suggests that the super-Arrhenius behavior of the

Engineering Porous Hollow Metal‐Poly(Heptazine Imide) Spheres: An Optimized Synthetic Strategy for Controlling Surface, Morphology, and Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hollow poly(heptazine imide) spheres are prepared through a novel approach that integrates hard templating with ionothermal synthesis. This method enables precise control over surface area, pore volume, hydrophilicity, light absorption, band position, and metal composition. These tunable properties facilitate the customized design of semiconductors for

Glycerol Carbonate Synthesis by Glycerol Oxidative Carbonylation over Copper Catalysts [PDF]

open access: yesClean Technology, 2013
In environmental friendly aspects, the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol using carbon monoxide and oxygen gases which were produced in petrochemical plants was studied. The oxidative carbonylation of glycerol under batch reaction system was performed on parameter conditions such as effect of various metals (Cu, Pd, Fe, Sn, Zn, Cr ...

Picosecond Dynamic Heterogeneity, Hopping and Johari-Goldstein Relaxation in Glassforming Liquids

open access: yes, 2014
We show that incoherent quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) from molecular liquids reveals a two-state dynamic heterogeneity on a 1 ps timescale, where molecules are either highly confined or are free to undergo relatively large excursions.

Volume Effects on the Glass Transition Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The role of jamming (steric constraints) and its relationship to the available volume is addressed by examining the effect that certain modifications of a glass-former have on the ratio of its isochoric and isobaric activation enthalpies.
