Selective O-Alkylation of the Crown Conformer of Tetra(4-hydroxyphenyl)calix[4]resorcinarene to the Corresponding Tetraalkyl Ether

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Reactions of glycidyl methacrylate with the crown and chair conformers of tetra(4-hydroxyphenyl)calix[4]resorcinarene were studied. The reactions were done over epoxide groups present in the ester, which can easily undergo an opening reaction with ...

Silica nanoparticles-coated poly(glycidyl methacrylate-ethylene dimethacrylate) co-polymer beads containing organic phase change materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Macroporous sorbent beads of large and small sizes were prepared by the AIBN-initiated suspension radical polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate and ethylene dimethacrylate monomers in the presence of an inert porogen.

Structural Characterization of Porous Photo‐Crosslinked Hybrid Networks Based on Collagen‐Poly(Trimethylene Carbonate)

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Hybrid networks combining natural and synthetic polymers into one network may result in networks with good bioactivity, suitable mechanical properties, and high control over degradation. This study shows that phase‐separated networks are obtained with the collagen phase acting as multifunctional crosslinks.

Advancements in 3D Printing of Self‐Healing Polymer Systems

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of the most common 3D printing technologies and summarizes the numerous methods to produce self‐healing materials. The challenges and strategies used to adapt these methods to 3D printing are then highlighted to provide a framework for future research in 3D printing self‐healing polymer systems.

Bioinspired, Guanidinium, and Indole Modified Poly(glycidyl ether)s as Highly Efficient Vectors for Polyplex‐Mediated Gene Delivery

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Guanidinium‐ and indole‐functionalized poly(glycidyl ether)s were developed as non‐viral gene delivery vectors with tunable hydrophilic–hydrophobic balance. All polymers formed stable DNA polyplexes, while moderate indole content yielded the highest transfection efficiency at low N/P ratios.

A PLP‐SEC Investigation of Di(Ethylene Glycol) Methyl Ether Methacrylate Radical Polymerization Propagation Kinetics in Solution

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
The propagation rate coefficient of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate exhibits the same temperature dependency but is a factor of 12 higher in aqueous solution compared to bulk. Smaller increases are observed in ethanol and ethanol/water mixtures, with the value of the rate coefficient decreasing as the monomer concentration in solution is ...
