Influence of ultrafiltration membrane characteristics on adsorptive fouling with dextrans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents a detailed investigation of fouling mechanisms for ultrafiltration membranes with polysaccharides obtained by studying membrane–solute (static adsorption) and membrane–solute–solute interactions (ultrafiltration (UF)).

Pivalolactone, 1 interchange reactions with polypivalolactone [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Ester interchange, alcoholysis, and acidolysis of polypivalolactone (PPVL) were studied by melting PPVL with bisphenol diacetates, 1, 4-butanediol, or aromatic diacids.

Calibration of ultrafiltration membranes against size exclusion chromatography columns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Using the extension of the concept of universal calibration parameter, yielding a relation between the hydrodynamic volume of molecules and the elution volume in sizeexclusionchromatography (SEC), to retention coefficients in ultrafiltration (UF), we ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Relationship between Friction Coefficient, Viscosity and Compressibility of Polyethylene Glycol

open access: yesTribology Online, 2008
An ultrasonic liquid processor with the frequency of 20 kHz was used to cleave a principal chain in a polyethylene glycol molecule. The amount of the lubricant molecules cleaved by the ultrasonic disruption was evaluated by the kinematic viscosity ...

Sensitivity Analysis of Computations of the Vapor-Liquid Equilibria of Methane + Methanol or Glycols at Gas Hydrate Formation Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK-EOS) and Peng-Robinson (PR-EOS) equations of state are used often to describe the behavior of pure substances and mixtures despite difficulties in handling substances, like water, with high polarity and hydrogen bonding. They

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Relationship between Friction Coefficient, Contact Angle and Infrared Absorbance of Polypropylene Glycol on Metal Surface

open access: yesTribology Online, 2013
The kinematic viscosities in the undiluted solutions of propylene glycol and the polypropylene glycols were proportional to their molecular weights, but the friction coefficients and compressibilities in polypropylene glycols hardly depended on their ...

Heat sealable, flame and abrasion resistant coated fabric [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Flame retardant, abrasion resistant elastomeric compositions are comprised of thermoplastic polyurethane polymer and flame retarding amounts of a filler selected from decabromodiphenyloxide and antimony oxide in a 3:1 weight ratio, and ...
