Taurine catabolism III. Evidence for the participation of the glyoxylate cycle

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1980
The metabolic fate of acetate, produced during taurine catabolism in Pseudomonas aeruginosa TAU-5, appears to involve the glyoxylate cycle. Organisms grown on taurine have significantly higher levels of malate synthetase and isocritrate lyase than cells grown on nutrient broth, but were comparable to the levels found in acetate-grown organisms ...

THE TRICARBOXYLIC ACID AND GLYOXYLATE CYCLES IN XANTHOMONAS PHASEOLI (XP8)

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1959
Cell-free extracts of Xanthomonas phaseoli contain the individual enzymes of the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and it is suggested that this is the main pathway for the terminal oxidation of carbohydrate in this organism. X. phaseoli can grow on a medium containing acetate as the sole source of carbon.

The glyoxylate cycle in Candida albicans infection

Trends in Biotechnology, 2001
Candida albicans, a normal component of the mammalian gastrointestinal flora, causes most fungal infections in immunosuppressed patients. Candida is normally phagocytosed by macrophages and neutrophils. Neutropenic patients, deficient in these immune cells, are particularly susceptible to systemic candidiasis.

Study on the glyoxylate cycle in germinating sesame seed embryos

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1964
Abstract The glyoxylate-cycle system in germinated sesame seed embryos was examined from several viewpoints. This glyoxylate-cycle system was found in the mitochondrial fraction of germinated sesame seed embryos, and it also was found that this cycle should predominate over the TCA-cycle system in seed mitochondria during the germination, although ...

Effect of Leaf Senescence on Glyoxylate Cycle Enzyme Activities

Functional Plant Biology, 1992
In order to elucidate the metabolism of the peroxisomes during foliar senescence of leaf beet (Beta vulgaris L., var. cicla), peroxisomal activities have been determined at various stages of senescence. Catalase and hydroxypyruvate reductase activities decreased whereas those of the β-oxidation pathway and glyoxylate cycle enzymes increased at the same

A MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF THE COMBINED TRICARBOXYLIC ACID - GLYOXYLATE CYCLES

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1967
The problem of interpreting data on the distribution of isotopic carbon in intermediates of the tricarboxylic acid cycle and the glyoxylate cycle is discussed. An effort is made to examine mathematically the effects of cycling on the distribution of isotope in the carbon skeletons of intermediates of these cycles.

TCA Cycle and Glyoxylate Shunt of Corynebacterium glutamicum

2012
The enzymes of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) and glyoxylate cycles of Corynebacterium glutamicum and in particular their regulation have been intensively studied in the past years. Nearly all TCA and glyoxylate cycle genes are subject to growth phase- or carbon source-dependent transcriptional regulation.
