Integrating Human Rights Into Food Systems Policy to Progress the Fulfillment of the Right to Adequate Food—Enablers, Barriers, and Windows of Opportunity

open access: yesWorld Food Policy, Volume 12, Issue 2, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Prevailing levels of hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity—driven by conflict, global economic crises, and ecological destruction—are threatening fulfillment of the right to adequate food. The integration of human rights in food systems policies can address these challenges; however, progress in the adoption of human rights–based ...

Weed Seeds in New Zealand Vegetable Seed Lots: Evaluating Seed Cleaning Effectiveness From Commercial and Biosecurity Perspectives

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 5, October 2026.
Weed seed contamination in vegetable seed lots poses risks to commercial seed quality and biosecurity, yet few studies have examined contamination in vegetable crops, and none have compared pre‐ and post‐cleaning levels using quantitative seed counts. We analysed 1,322 field‐dressed (FD) and machine‐dressed (MD) purity test results from four vegetable ...

Inheritance of glyphosate resistance in Kochia scoparia [PDF]

open access: yes
Master of ScienceDepartment of AgronomyMithila JugulamExtensive, often exclusive, use of glyphosate in crop production has resulted in evolved glyphosate resistance in several weed species globally.

Management of glyphosate resistance in summer weeds

open access: yes
In Australia, glyphosate resistance continues to evolve in both summer and winter weeds and to date, several mechanisms of glyphosate resistance have been identified.

A Trp574–Leu substitution confers resistance to three classes of acetolactate synthase inhibitors in Australian brome grass (Bromus diandrus)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 9437-9443, October 2026.
Target‐site based imidazolinone resistance in brome grass was found to be conferred by a mutation at position 574 in the ALS gene and to severely impact the efficacy of the herbicide Intervix®, a co‐formulation of imazamox and imazapyr. Abstract BACKGROUND Brome grass (Bromus diandrus) is a prevalent weed in southern Australian cropping regions which ...

Essential oils as bioherbicides: effects of orange and citronella oils on weed germination and early growth

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 9748-9763, October 2026.
Essential oils from orange and citronella showed dose‐dependent inhibition of weed germination and early growth, highlighting their potential as bioherbicides and sustainable tools for integrated weed management. Abstract BACKGROUND Increasing selection of herbicide‐resistant weed biotypes has intensified the search for alternatives to the intensive ...

Field performance of MON 94637 and laboratory evidence supporting a Bt pyramiding strategy against key lepidopteran pests in Brazil

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 9899-9907, October 2026.
A genetically modified soybean expressing multiple Cry proteins protects against key lepidopteran pests, consistently reducing larval damage and offering an effective resistance management option for soybean production in Brazil. Abstract BACKGROUND Pyramided Bt genes in crops have been widely adopted to delay insect resistance evolution worldwide. The

Persistence of PPO mutations and dynamics of Amaranthus palmeri resistance to PPO‐inhibitor herbicides in a decade

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 10185-10191, October 2026.
Over a decade, Arkansas Amaranthus palmeri populations maintained resistance to PPO‐inhibiting herbicides. PPO2 mutations relate to shifts in herbicide resistance patterns over time. Abstract BACKGROUND Amaranthus is a highly troublesome weed genera globally.

Effects of elevated CO2 and temperature on cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium L.) and its herbicide response

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 10303-10311, October 2026.
Elevated CO2 promotes the growth of Xanthium strumarium while increasing its susceptibility to the systemic herbicide trifloxysulfuron‐sodium. The efficacy of the soil‐active herbicide fluometuron remains unaffected by changes in CO2 concentration and temperature.

Effects of Glyphosate on the Planktonic Microbiota: An Experimental Approach

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, Volume 41, Issue 10, Page 889-905, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Glyphosate is one of the most widely used herbicides in the world, including in Brazil, and its dispersion through habitats and surface waters can impact entire aquatic ecosystems. However, experimental studies evaluating the effects of pesticides on whole planktonic communities, considering attributes such as richness, density and composition—
