Resistance to glyphosate from altered herbicide translocation patterns [PDF]

open access: yesPest Management Science, 2007
AbstractGlyphosate‐resistant weeds have evolved as a result of the intensive use of glyphosate for weed control. An alteration in the way glyphosate is translocated within the plant has been identified as a mechanism of glyphosate resistance in populations of Lolium rigidum Gaud., L. multiflorum Lam. and Conyza canadensis (L.) Cronq. In these resistant

Absorption and translocation of glyphosate with conventional and organosilicone adjuvants

Weed Biology and Management, 2008
This study was conducted to determine the effects of three organosilicone‐based and six conventional organic adjuvants on the absorption and translocation of 14C‐glyphosate in guineagrass and redroot pigweed. The organosilicone adjuvants produced rapid absorption of the 14C‐glyphosate into the redroot pigweed leaves, reaching maximum absorption within ...

Causes of Self-Limited Translocation of Glyphosate in Beta vulgaris Plants [PDF]

open access: yesPesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 1999
Abstract Causes of self-induced limitation of glyphosate translocation were studied in sugar beet plants that were susceptible to or tolerant of (Roundup Ready) glyphosate. Glyphosate was taken up in both types of plants at the same rate and essentially stopped at the same time, around 4 h after [14C]glyphosate was applied in 1% Roundup formulation ...

Fertiactyl® in mixture with glyphosate decreases herbicide absorption and translocation in coffee seedlings

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2020
The application of glyphosate to coffee crops can cause injuries to plants. Fertiactyl® foliar fertilizer reduces injuries when mixed with glyphosate; however, it is important to establish which mechanisms are responsible for this protective action. This study aimed to evaluate the absorption and translocation of glyphosate applied separately and in ...

Glyphosate Translocation and Quackgrass Rhizome Bud Kill

Weed Science, 1976
The effect of quackgrass [Agropyron repens (L.) Beauv.] rhizome length and foliage height on glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] translocation was determined on the basis of bud kill and 14 C-accumulation in quackgrass rhizomes. Foliar glyphosate treatments of 0.28 kg/ha resulted in significantly reduced quackgrass rhizome bud survival, and rates ...

Glyphosate resistance in four different populations of Lolium rigidum is associated with reduced translocation of glyphosate to meristematic zones [PDF]

open access: yesWeed Research, 2004
SummaryWeed populations with resistance to glyphosate have evolved over the last 7 years, since the discovery of the first glyphosate‐resistant populations of Lolium rigidum in Australia. Four populations of L. rigidum from cropping, horticultural and viticultural areas in New South Wales and South Australia were tested for resistance to glyphosate by ...

Spray retention, foliar uptake and translocation of glufosinate and glyphosate in Ambrosia artemisiifolia [PDF]

open access: yesWeed Research, 2006
Summary Ambrosia artemisiifolia plants exhibit stomata on both leaf surfaces and three types of trichomes: (i) small (<50 μm) spherical or ovoid, (ii) medium‐sized (50–100 μm) and (iii) long (100–200 μm) and sharp. Only the long and sharp trichomes were stained with AgNO3, indicating the presence of hydrophilic domains.
