GMAW welding optimization using genetic algorithms [PDF]
This article explores the possibility of using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) as a method to decide near-optimal settings of a GMAW welding process. The problem was to choose the near-best values of three control variables (welding voltage, wire feed rate and welding speed) based on four quality responses (deposition efficiency, bead width, depth of ...

Dynamic behavior of the weld pool in stationary GMAW [PDF]
Becaus hump formation limits welding productivity, better understanding of the humping phenomena during the welding process is needed to access process modifications that decrease the tendency to hump formation and then allow higher welding productivity.

Numerical Modeling Of GMAW ARC [PDF]
A comprehensive model has been developed to simulate the transient, coupled transport phenomena occurring during a gas metal arc welding process. This includes the arc plasma; melting of the electrode; droplet formation, detachment, transfer, and impingement onto the workpiece; and weld pool fluid flow and dynamics.

Study of welding productivity for MIL A 46100steel weldments produced using GMAW and SMAW
A study was conducted to measure welding productivity for MIL A46100 specification steel joints welded following five different welding procedures (WPS) which used gas metal arc welding (GMAW), in mechanized mode, and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW ...

Analysis of Ductile Fracture Obtained by Charpy Impact Test of a Steel Structure Created by Robot-Assisted GMAW-Based Additive Manufacturing [PDF]
In this study, gas metal arc welding (GMAW) was used to construct a thin wall structure in a layer-by-layer fashion using an AWS ER70S-6 electrode wire with the help of a robot.

The gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process is highly used in industrial production; therefore great efforts are made to select the appropriate procedure to ensure the highest quality. An area of study directly correlated to the quality of GMAW and widely studied is the control of process stability.

INVESTIGATION OF GMAW BY SIMULATION MODELLING
The thermal and deformation cycle during welding is directly reflected on the formation of the welded joint and the imperfections that can occur in any specific case. The simulation modelling of the heating and cooling processes makes it possible to determine the temporary and residual stresses in the welded joint.

Study on load‐carrying capacity of MAG butt‐welded mixed connections with different steel strengths
Abstract Mixed connections of normal‐strength steel and high‐strength steel can enable an optimum resource‐saving use of materials by adapting the material strength to the forces acting on them. But the design and calculation of butt‐welded mixed connections is not clearly regulated in the currently valid standards EN 1993‐1‐8 and EN 1993‐1‐12.

Abstract High‐strength structural steels are beneficial in terms of the sustainability of constructions due to the possible reduction of weight and overall material needs. Nevertheless, high‐strength steels have a smaller processing parameter range in regarding the specific heat input and resulting cooling rate.
