GMAW process with rotating electrode: an advanced alternative to improve cladding performance

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2023
This work shows that superaustenitic stainless steel weld claddings deposited by the GMAW Process with Rotating Electrode (GMAW-RE) can be a candidate to replace the GMAW process, a procedure widely applied in the industry.

Investigating microstructural evolution and wear resistance of AISI 316L stainless steel cladding deposited over mild steel using constant current GMAW and pulsed current GMAW processes

Materials Testing, 2023
The main objective of this study is to investigate the microstructure and wear resistance of AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel (ASS) cladding deposited over mild steel (MS) of grade IS 2062 using constant current (CC-GMAW) and pulsed current gas metal

Pendant droplet oscillation during GMAW

Science and Technology of Welding and Joining, 2006
This paper deals with pendant droplet oscillation in pulsed current gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Using a constant current power source, bead on plate welds were made on mild steel plates. The frequency of the pendant droplet oscillation was monitored visually (using a high speed video camera) and electronically (by analysis of the voltage signals ...

Finite element analysis and experimental investigation of moving heat source model for GMAW deposited mild steel weld bead

Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part E, journal of process mechanical engineering, 2022
An investigation has been done to identify the heat source model suitable for numerical modeling of the Gas Metal arc Welding (GMAW) welding process. In the present investigation, a numerical model was constructed to simulate the GMAW welding process ...

Dynamic modeling of GMAW process

Proceedings 1999 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.99CH36288C), 2003
A model has been developed correlating the anode temperature profile with the dynamic melting rate in gas metal arc welding. Components of this model are identified as the electrode melting rate, temperature-dependent resistivity of electrode and arc voltage.

Processing characteristics of Ni-WC MMC weld cladding by various types of GMAW

Materials and Manufacturing Processes
GMAW (gas metal arc welding) with various transfer modes, including GMAW-G (GMAW with globular transfer), GMAW-S (GMAW with short-circuit transfer), GMAW-P (pulsed GMAW), and CMT (cold metal transfer), were engaged for depositing overlays of nickel ...

Arc initiation in aluminium GMAW

Welding International, 2010
The use of pulsed current for MIG welding of aluminium, despite being one of the most recommended technologies, due to its better results, presents difficulties at the start of the process, principally in regard to arc initiation. With the aim of developing a more suitable process of arc initiation, two new techniques were studied: the first based on ...

ANODE CARBON ENRICHMENT IN GMAW

High Temperature Material Processes (An International Quarterly of High-Technology Plasma Processes), 2010
The shielding gas used in the welding process has a strong influence on the metal transfer characteristics. When the gas is chemically active the physicochemical properties of the electrodes can be strongly altered which can increase or decrease arc stability.
