GMD: Its Function and Its History [PDF]

open access: yesCataloging and Classification Quarterly, 2004
ABSTRACT The history, scope, and functions of the General Material Designation (GMD) are reviewed. Reasons for difficulties in using GMDs, the hybrid nature of GMDs, and their functional nature are examined. Future uses of GMD in an international context are discussed.

A Generalized Multistep Dynamic (GMD) TOPMODEL

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2023
There is a lack of Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) formulations in numerical hydrology, contributing to the lack of application of canned adaptive timestep solvers; hence the continued dominance of fixed (e.g., Euler) timestep techniques despite ...

The GMD Method for Inductance Calculation Applied to Conductors with Skin Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2017
The GMD method (geometric mean distance) to calculate inductance offers undoubted advantages over other methods. But so far it seemed to be limited to the case where the current is uniformly distributed over the cross section of the conductor, i.e. to DC

Relaxation Based Modeling of GMD Induced Cascading Failures in PowerModelsGMD.jl [PDF]

open access: yesNorth American Power Symposium, 2021
A major risk of geomagnetic disturbances (GMDs) is cascading failure of electrical grids. The modeling of GMD events and cascading outages in power systems is difficult, both independently and jointly, because of the many different mechanisms and physics

GMD perspective: The quest to improve the evaluation of groundwater representation in continental- to global-scale models

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2021
. Continental- to global-scale hydrologic and land surface models increasingly include representations of the groundwater system. Such large-scale models are essential for examining, communicating, and understanding the dynamic interactions between the ...

GMD-Based Hybrid Beamforming for Large Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface Assisted Millimeter-Wave Massive MIMO [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is considered to be an energy-efficient approach to reshape the wireless environment for improved throughput. Its passive feature greatly reduces the energy consumption, which makes RIS a promising technique for ...

Establishment and Application of an Indirect ELISA for the Detection of Antibodies to Porcine Streptococcus suis Based on a Recombinant GMD Protein

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Simple Summary This study developed an indirect ELISA (GMD-ELISA) to detect the Streptococcus suis (S. suis) antibody. The antigen—antibody response was optimized using checkerboard titration.
