Effects of Gmelina arborea extract on experimentally induced diabetes
To study the effects of aqueous extract of Gmelina arborea bark on normoglycemic levels and streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetes in rats. After single administration of the aqueous extract, plasma glucose level was determined up to 6 h. In subacute study, the aqueous extract was administered for 28 d and plasma glucose level was determined weekly.

Balancing bioenergy expansion and restoration: Global shifts in biodiversity intactness
While restoration is the best strategy for biodiversity, planting energy crops on agricultural land rather than replacing natural vegetation could minimise losses in biodiversity intactness index. However, achieving targets for bioenergy, climate change and restoration will require strategic land‐use planning to minimise ecological compromises ...

Kinetics and characterization of Gmelina arborea biolubricant via two-step transesterification
The increasing focus on environmental sustainability and the transition to renewable resources have driven interest in bio-based lubricants. Nonedible oils, such as those derived from Gmelina arborea seeds, present a viable alternative to conventional ...

Conservation measures like educational awareness and livelihood development schemes are common practice among wildlife conservationists. However, long‐term impact of such interventions are rarely assessed. Through our study (Six years), we observed a >20% increase (p < 0.05) in support for sun bears among respondents lacking a formal education and ...

Climate‐Induced Range Shift and Risk Assessment of Emerging Weeds in Queensland, Australia
The paper examined the present distribution of 54 emerging weeds of the State of Queensland, Australia, and through the use of a correlative/environmental model of MaxEnt software, predicted their potential habitat suitability and response (range shift) to climate change scenarios.

Estimating latent heat flux of subtropical forests using machine learning algorithms
The efficacies of machine learning models, built using in situ, satellite and reanalysis data are tested to simulate the latent flux of subtropical forests. Their output is compared with direct eddy covariance flux measurements. Support vector regression outperforms lasso, random forest, adaptive boosting and gradient boosting algorithms in this ...
