Evaluation on Biofilter in Recirculating Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Science and Engineering, 2013
Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture pays more attention as a bio-integrated food production system that serves as a model of sustainable aquaculture, minimizes waste discharge, increases diversity and yields multiple products.

On the Validity of the Geiger-Nuttall Alpha-Decay Law and its Microscopic Basis

open access: yes, 2014
The Geiger-Nuttall (GN) law relates the partial $\alpha$-decay half-life with the energy of the escaping $\alpha$ particle and contains for every isotopic chain two experimentally determined coefficients.

Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Equivariant K-theory, generalized symmetric products, and twisted Heisenberg algebra

open access: yes, 2002
For a space X acted by a finite group $\G$, the product space $X^n$ affords a natural action of the wreath product $\Gn$. In this paper we study the K-groups $K_{\tG_n}(X^n)$ of $\Gn$-equivariant Clifford supermodules on $X^n$.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Adaptive Hydrogels With Spatiotemporal Stiffening Using pH‐Modulating Enzymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemomechanical coupling in an adaptive hydrogel is studied to further the development of adaptive hydrogels. This coupling is achieved by embedding a pH‐modulating enzyme in a pH‐responsive hydrogel. The enzymatic reaction can be triggered locally, which generates a pH‐decreasing wave throughout the system, increasing the crosslinking density and ...

Food Production and Global Environmental Change: Stewardship as a Guiding Principle for Christian Development Organizations

open access: yesReligions
Providing food security has traditionally been an important motive for development cooperation. At the same time, agriculture also has a major impact on the environment, which in turn threatens food production itself. This article argues that the tension
