Time Synchronization of TESLA-enabled GNSS Receivers [PDF]

open access: yes
As TESLA-enabled GNSS for authenticated positioning reaches ubiquity, receivers must use an onboard, GNSS-independent clock and carefully constructed time synchronization algorithms to assert the authenticity afforded. This work provides the necessary checks and synchronization protocols needed in the broadcast-only GNSS context.

A Smart Camera With Integrated Deep Learning Processing for Disease Detection in Open Field Crops of Grape, Apple, and Carrot

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Downy mildew (Plasmopara), apple scab (Venturia inaequalis), and Alternaria leaf blight are endemic diseases that affect crops worldwide. The diseases can cause severe losses in grapes, apples and carrots when not detected and treated in an early stage.

Improvement of GNSS Carrier Phase Accuracy Using MEMS Accelerometer-Aided Phase-Locked Loops for Earthquake Monitoring

open access: yesMicromachines, 2017
When strong earthquake occurs, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) measurement errors increase significantly. Combined strategies of GNSS/accelerometer data can estimate better precision in displacement, but are of no help to carrier phase ...

Towards a Semiautonomous Young Spruce Forest Late Cleaning

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cleaning a seedling spruce stand is an important silvicultural task required to help the young spruce trees thrive. It is usually manual work with a clearing saw. Mechanized solutions have been proposed, but they have not worked out well, since the driver has challenges in seeing the seedling trees that should be left growing.

GNSS Integrity in The Arctic

open access: yesNavigation, 2016
Growing activity in the Arctic calls for high integrity navigation in this region. This can be achieved using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in conjunction with Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) or Advanced Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (ARAIM).

A comparison of established and digital surface model (DSM)‐based methods to determine population estimates and densities for king penguin colonies, using fixed‐wing drone and satellite imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We used fixed‐wing drones and Beyond Visual Line of Sight flying to create high‐resolution imagery and Digital Surface Models (DSMs) of six large king penguin colonies (colony population sizes ranging from 10,671 to 132,577 pairs) in South Georgia. We used a novel DSM‐based method to facilitate automated and semi‐automated counts of each colony to ...

Comprehensive review of innovative construction technology of high‐core rockfill dam: Nuozhadu project

open access: yesRiver, EarlyView.
Abstract Underpinned by the ultrahigh‐core rockfill dam at the Nuozhadu Hydropower Station, comprehensive studies and engineering practices have been conducted to address several critical challenges: coordination of seepage deformation in dam materials, prevention and control of high‐water‐pressure seepage failure, static and dynamic deformation ...

Controlled Synthesis of Bimetallic Gold‐Silver Nanostars: Atomic Insights and Predictive Formation Model

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A systematic study of gold‐silver nanostars (GNSs) formation reveals the key role of silver and AgCl in directing GNSs growth. Using a rapid and green synthesis approach, temperature and AgNO₃ addition influence the process. This enables control over GNSs morphology, size, and concentration, allowing their properties to be tuned for various fields such
