GNSS Augmentation using the VHF Data Exchange System (VDES)
ION GNSS+, The International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of The Institute of Navigation, 2018There is an observed trend for the extent of sea ice in the Arctic to recede over recent years. Research by the Arctic Council and the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme suggests that the Arctic Ocean could be largely free of sea ice in summer by earlier than mid-century, possibly as early as the late 2030s.

Avionics-Based GNSS Integrity Augmentation Performance in a Jamming Environment
2015Intentional and unintentional radiofrequency interference (i.e., jamming) can result in degraded navigation accuracy or complete loss of the GNSS signal tracking. Jammers can be classified into three broad categories: Narrowband Jammers (NBJ), Spread Spectrum Jammers(SSJ) and Wideband Gaussian Jammers (WGJ).

A system analysis of a GNSS augmentation data link
AIAA/IEEE Digital Avionics Systems Conference. 13th DASC, 2002The advent of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is having a profound impact on surveying, mapping, and navigation. Nowhere is this more evident than in civil aviation. In addition to the capability for cost effective precise positioning and navigation there is now the possibility to conceive systems based on this technology that for the ...

Architectural optimization of extensible ground-based GNSS augmentation system
2009 Integrated Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Conference, 2009An extensible ground-based GNSS augmentation system architecture is proposed and detailed in this paper. Operational issues related to interoperability of the system are discussed. Restrictions on reference stations site selection are derived from requirements of integrity monitoring center algorithms.

Peer to Peer Equation Augmentation for an Altitude Aided GNSS Receiver
2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall, 2010This paper considers the possibility to integrate external altitude measurements with a Kalman based Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver in a peer to peer scenario. The performance of such a system is investigated for different characteristics of the aiding measurement and for different degree of trust of the receiver upon the aiding ...

Augmented positioning with CORSs network services using GNSS mass-market receivers
2014 IEEE/ION Position, Location and Navigation Symposium - PLANS 2014, 2014Over the last twenty years, positioning with low cost GNSS sensors has become widespread worldwide at both commercial and academic level. The Geomatics Research Group of DIATI at the Politecnico di Torino has carried out several experiments in order to evaluate the precision achievable when using mass-market GNSS receivers with a network of permanent ...
