Monitoring Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) Production by Mixed Microbial Cultures Using 2D Fluorescence Spectroscopy: Impact of Operating Conditions

open access: yesNatural Sciences, Volume 5, Issue 4, October 2025.
2D fluorescence spectroscopy can monitor the PHA content in both stages where PHA is produced even when different operating conditions (OLR and sludge retention time [SRT]) were imposed, achieving intracellular PHA estimations with average errors below 4.0% and 5.0% gPHA/gTS.

A Call-Graph Profiler for GNU Octave

open access: yes, 2008
We report the design and implementation of a call-graph profiler for GNU Octave, a numerical computing platform. GNU Octave simplifies matrix computation for use in modeling or simulation. Our work provides a call-graph profiler, which is an improvement on the flat profiler.

FESTUNG: A MATLAB/GNU Octave toolbox for the discontinuous Galerkin method, Part II: Advection operator and slope limiting [PDF]

open access: yesComputers and Mathematics with Applications, 2016
This is the second in a series of papers on implementing a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method as an open source MATLAB/GNU Octave toolbox. The intention of this ongoing project is to offer a rapid prototyping package for application development using DG ...

Assessment and Comparative Study of Free and Commercial Numerical Software Packages for Lithium‐Ion Battery Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2025.
This study evaluates the simulation capabilities of lithium‐ion battery (LIB) electrochemical simulation software packages. The benchmark simulation results reveal the impacts of parameter sensitivity to solver performance and stability. The guidelines to troubleshooting common solver failures at high current rates lowers the steep learning curve to ...

Komunikāciju modelēšana izmantojot GNU Octave

open access: yes, 2022
Nowadays, communication systems have become an essential part of our daily lives, research and other fields. The development of these kinds of systems requires an abundance of time and financial resources and because of this, it is necssary to make design decisions before implementing such systems.

Swelling Behavior and Mechanical Stability of Composite Fibers Prepared from Casein Micelles and Calcium Alginate

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 310, Issue 9, September 2025.
A micellar casein‐alginate blend is wet‐spun into fibers using a calcium‐rich coagulation bath. Fibers with different levels of casein are dried and tested. Swelling tests showed increased stability in decalcifying media with micellar casein. Mechanical properties remained largely unchanged, except after treatment with citric acid, where the breaking ...
