AbstractDeep oxygen ingress into the goaf can lead to spontaneous heatings particularly during face stoppage or slow face retreat in the panel. This requires the deployment of proactive goaf inertisation strategies based upon detailed understanding of goaf gas flow patterns and distribution characteristics.
