Prediction model for spontaneous combustion hazard zone in downward ventilation gob of gently inclined coal seam

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2023
To analyze the distribution characteristics of regions with potential spontaneous combustion hazards in the goaf under descending ventilation in gently inclined coal seams with different spontaneous combustion tendencies, a seepage model of the inclined ...

Design of Initial Mining Pressure Relief Scheme for Large‐Size Mining Face: A Case Study

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
The numerical simulation analysis method is used to compare the actual mining face (315 m) with the designed mining face (200 m). The results show that the large mining height working face has larger abutment pressure peak and stress concentration factor than the general mining height working face.

Study on multi-source analysis and prevention of CO in return corner of composite goaf

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The source of CO in the return corner of the composite goaf is more complex than that of a single coal seam, and the CO overrun seriously affects the health and safety of miners and the accurate prediction of coal spontaneous combustion (CSC) in the goaf.

Mechanical Behavior of Gas-Transmission Pipeline in a Goaf

open access: yesProcesses, 2023
To solve the safety hazard of a buried gas pipeline caused by subsidence of a mined-out area, a three-dimensional model of a buried pipeline in a mined-out area was established using geological parameters and the finite-element software ABAQUS. The effects of the friction coefficient of the pipe and soil, the coal-seam dip angle, and the horizontal ...

Similar Material Simulation Study on Dam Movement and Deformation Law of Deep Coal Seam Mining Under Dam

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1808-1821, April 2026.
Aiming at the difficulties in accurately calculating the movement and deformation of small‐sized, deep‐buried dams with a significant height‐to‐depth ratio in deep fully mechanized caving mining, this study proposes to separate the analysis of surface and dam deformation.

Long-distance Fixed-point Detection and Drainage Technology of Goaf Water Under Complex Geological Conditions

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2020
To solve the goaf water disaster of Hanzui Coal Mine, aiming to the technical problem of detection and drainage for goaf water with long distance under complicated geological conditions that the coal seam is soft and the floor is badly mudstone, the ...

Research on the Laws of Destructive Patterns and Control Measures of Overlying Rock in High‐Efficiency Large‐Scale Mining Faces

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1851-1863, April 2026.
With the advancement of coal mining technology driving the development of working faces toward increased mining heights and extended lengths, the enlargement of face dimensions has led to expanded overlying strata failure zones and intensified ground pressure manifestations. Consequently, traditional methods for determining hydraulic support resistance

Investigation of the Dynamic Evolution Mechanism of Bed Separation in Karst Aquifers and Risk Assessment of Water Inrush

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1864-1880, April 2026.
This study reveals the temporal and spatial evolution law of roof separation under the karst aquifer and the dynamic water inrush mechanism of roof separation. The FAHP–EWM–CRITIC combination weighting method was established to obtain the risk zoning of bed separation water inrush in a karst landform mining area. ABSTRACT Coalfields in northern Guizhou

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation on the Progressive Breaking Law of Thick and Hard Rock Strata in Deep Mining

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1881-1902, April 2026.
This work reveals the “C‐Y,” double “Y,” “π,” and “Y” fracture modes of thick, hard strata and their progressive breaking process (O‐F‐R/S mode), providing a theoretical basis for controlling strong ground pressure in deep mining. ABSTRACT In response to the dynamic hazards caused by the fracture of thick‐hard strata in deep mining, this study ...

An Approach for Estimating Underground-Goaf Boundaries Based on Combining DInSAR with a Graphical Method

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The goaf left behind after mining has the potential to induce serious geological disasters due to the damaged internal structure of the rock. Estimating the boundary of the underground goaf can effectively control the occurrence of such disasters ...
