A concept for an operable software system for the processing of a high-accuracy, high-resolution spherical harmonic model of the Earth’s gravity field from GOCE observables (satellite gravity gradiometry (SGG), satellite-to-satellite tracking in high-low mode (hl-SST)) is presented. The software architecture and the data flow are briefly described, and

Abstract GOCE (gravity field and steady-state ocean circulation explorer) will provide a global model of the Earth's gravity field with high spatial resolution and high accuracy. The gravity measurements are derived from a combination of different sensor readouts.

GOCE Instrument Thermal Control
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2006<div class="htmlview paragraph">The GOCE (Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer) spacecraft is one of the ESA’s Earth Explorer Core missions. The GOCE mission science, due for launch in 2007, will provide data sets required to determine global models of Earth’s gravity field, the geoid, ocean circulation and sea level change ...

GOCE gradiometer data calibration
Journal of Geodesy, 2019The GOCE mission provides a unique gravity gradient dataset, which is used by most state-of-the-art global gravity field models. The quality of the gravity gradients of previous data releases degraded during the mission lifetime, which was often attributed to the increasing drag forces towards the end of the mission due to the approaching solar maximum

Microscope Instrument Development, Lessons for GOCE
Space Science Reviews, 2003Two space missions are presently under development with pay load based on ultra-sensitive electrostatic accelerometers. The GOCE mission takes advantage of a three axis gradiometer accommodated in a very stable thermal case on board a drag-free satellite orbiting at a very low altitude of 250 km.

GOCE++ Dynamical Coastal Topography and tide gauge unification using altimetry and GOCE
2016ESA has recently released a study on the potential of ocean levelling as a novel approach to the study of height system unification taking the recent development in geoid accuracy trough GOCE data into account. The suggested investigation involves the use of measurements and modelling to estimate Mean Dynamic Topography (MDT) of the ocean along a ...

In the paper the second-degree harmonic coefficients Cnm and Snm of Earth gravity potential were derived after the GOCE-satellite measurings. The stability of those coefficients is shown and estimation of its determination accuracy is given.

Combining EGM2008 with GOCE Gravity Models
2013The most advanced global gravity model, EGM2008, is nowadays competing with local models in terms of resolution and accuracy in the definition of the Earth gravity field. This global model, complete to spherical harmonic degree and order 2159, is however affected by several biases mainly due to datum inconsistencies and variability of the input ...
