Vicarious calibration of GOCI for the SeaDAS ocean color retrieval

open access: yesInternational Journal of Remote Sensing, 2019
A key on-orbit calibration step for satellite remote sensing of ocean color is the vicarious calibration. This establishes the final gains for each spectral band on the sensor that minimize bias in the retrieved ocean color signal. The vicarious calibration is specific to the instrument and the atmospheric correction algorithm.

A Comparison of Machine-Learning Methods to Select Socioeconomic Indicators in Cultural Landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Cultural landscapes are regarded to be complex socioecological systems that originated as a result of the interaction between humanity and nature across time. Cultural landscapes present complex-system properties, including nonlinear dynamics among their

Radiometric Characteristics of Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) for Land Applications

open access: yesKorean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2012
The GOCI imagery can be an effective alternative to monitor short-term changes over terrestrial environments. This study aimed to assess the radiometric characteristics of the GOCI multispectral imagery for land applications. As an initial approach, we compared GOCI at-sensor radiance with MODIS data obtained simultaneously.

Applicability of Vegetation Indices from Terra MODIS and COMS GOCI Imageries [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of The Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers, 2013
The objective of this study is to evaluate the applicability of Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) vegetation indices on a quantitative analysis. For evaluation, the vegetation indices such as RVI, NDVI and SAVI were extracted by using COMS GOCI and Terra Moderate Resolution Imaging ...

Computing Ocean Surface Currents From GOCI Ocean Color Satellite Imagery

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2017
One of the significant challenges in physical oceanography is getting an adequate space/time description of the ocean surface currents. One possible solution is the maximum cross-correlation (MCC) method that we apply to hourly ocean color images from the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) over five years.
