V. Gold-aluminium alloys [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical or Physical Character, 1900
This paper is a study of the binary alloys composed of gold and aluminium. The fact that metals in many cases form definite chemical compounds with each other, is becoming increasingly evident as attention is given to the subject. But there are many pairs of metals whose freezing point-curve affords no indication of chemical combination, and which ...

Cryo‐EM of Rationally Designed Photosystem I Nanoassembly on Graphene Validates Orientation‐Driven Enhancement of Photocatalytic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The first cryo‐EM visualization and quantification of oriented Photosystem I (PSI) on single‐layer graphene is reported. Domain‐specific covalent anchoring of PSI, with the reducing side of the biophotocatalyst toward graphene, promotes three‐fold higher anodic photocurrent generation compared to a randomly physisorbed counterpart. This approach allows

CRISPR/Cas9‐Assisted Microrobots for Fast and Ultrasensitive “On‐The‐Fly” Next‐Generation DNA Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents self‐propelled CRISPR/Cas9‐functionalized Au–MRs for rapid, amplification‐free, “on‐the‐fly” DNA detection. By harnessing motion‐assisted signal recovery, the platform achieved the limit of detection in low fM DNA concentrations, enabling detection across a wide dynamic range within only 5 min, which is significantly faster than any ...

Voltage effects on the stability of Pd ensembles in Pd-Au/Au(111) surface alloys

open access: yes, 2018
The catalytic performance of multimetallic electrodes is often attributed to a beneficial combination of ligand, strain, and ensemble effects. Understanding the influence of the electrochemical environment on the stability of the alloy surface structure ...

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of p-(Dimethylamino) Cinnamic Acid on Silver and Silver-Gold Alloids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Through this experimental work we describe assignments for the Raman and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra (on Ag and Ag(x)-Au(1-x) colloids) of 4-(dimethylamino) cinnamic acid (DMACA).

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Transparent Inorganic–Organic Bilayer Neural Electrode Array and Integration to Miniscope System for In Vivo Calcium Imaging and Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the BioCLEAR system, a highly transparent and conductive neural electrode array composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and doped PEDOT:PSS, enabling neural recordings with minimal optical artifacts. When integrated with a GRIN lens, this cost‐effective neural implant allows simultaneous electrophysiological recording and GCaMP6‐based ...
