DNA Bimodified Gold Nanoparticles
Langmuir, 2011We report a general approach to bimodify gold nanoparticles (GNPs) with two different DNA strands via DNA template reaction. Two thioctic acid modified DNA strands, one at 5' end and one at 3' end, were attached to GNPs through bivalent thiol-gold bond. By sequence design, assemblies of 5 nm GNPs chains, 10 nm GNPs chains and alternative arrangement of

Gold nanoparticles in melting gels
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2019Melting gels were prepared by the sol–gel process from methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) and dimethyldiethoxysilane (DMDES). Two compositions, 75 mol% MTES-25 mol% DMDES and 65 mol% MTES–35 mol% DMDES, were compared. Citrate-capped gold nanospheres were added to the melting gels during the synthesis process in five concentrations 8, 10, 12, 14, and 18 nM ...

On the relative stabilities of gold nanoparticles
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2007We calculate and compare the relative free energies of ideal/pristine gold nanoparticles for morphologies produced previously in vapor synthesis computer simulations. The results in conjunction with previous work provide a unique and direct quantitative comparison between ideal thermodynamics and kinetics in the synthesis of gold nanoparticles for an ...

Paclitaxel-Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2007Here we describe the first example of 2 nm gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) covalently functionalized with a chemotherapeutic drug, paclitaxel. The synthetic strategy involves the attachment of a flexible hexaethylene glycol linker at the C-7 position of paclitaxel followed by coupling of the resulting linear analogue to phenol-terminated gold nanocrystals.

Photoswitchable rotaxanes on gold nanoparticles
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2011We studied rotaxanes that consisted of a molecular axle, with a photoactive 9-Aryl-9-methoxy-acridane moiety at one end, and a tetracationic ring of cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) (CBQT(4+)). The aim of the study was to deposit the axle ends onto gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). First, we introduced thioctic acid into the axle molecules.

Interaction of ozone with gold nanoparticles
Talanta, 2005Gold nanoparticles interact with aqueous ozone to produce a surface plasmon resonance shift without aggregation of the nanoparticles. Given ozone's destructive nature, the surprising finding was that the gold nanoparticles returned to their original color and were able to cycle between the wavelengths as ozone was introduced and removed.
