Gold nanorods: Synthesis, characterization and applications
Coordination Chemistry Reviews, 2005Abstract This article provides an overview of current research into the synthesis and properties of gold nanorods. Interest in rod-shaped nanoparticles stems from their unique optical properties, which can be approximated by Mie–Gans theory. We begin by outlining briefly the origin of the shape-dependent optical properties of rods.

Spectroscopic Photoacoustic Imaging of Gold Nanorods
2017Photoacoustic imaging is a rapidly developing tool capable of achieving high-resolution images with optical contrast at imaging depths up to a few centimeters. When combined with targeted nanoparticle contrast agents, sensitive detection of molecular signatures is possible.
