Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

A sequential classification rule based on multiple quantitative tests in the absence of a gold standard [PDF]
In many medical applications, combining information from multiple biomarkers could yield a better diagnosis than any single one on its own. When there is a lack of a gold standard, an algorithm of classifying subjects into the case and non-case status is

Should the basophil activation test be the gold standard in the diagnosis of food allergies? [PDF]
Background The basophil activation test (BAT) is an in vitro test which allows to identify children with food allergies at the sensitization stage and clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis\\eczema (AD). The aim of our study was to observe the BAT in children with food allergies, optimize the diagnosis compared with other tests, and select an ...

In patients treated with atezolizumab as a part of the MyPathway (NCT02091141) trial, pre‐treatment ctDNA tumor fraction at high levels was associated with poor outcomes (radiographic response, progression‐free survival, and overall survival) but better sensitivity for blood tumor mutational burden (bTMB).
