Golden invasion: Update on records golden mussel in the Amazon region
This study updates the distribution of the invasive bivalve Limnoperna fortunei in the Brazilian Amazon. It was found that the species exceeded predictions from previous models, after only two years since the first record. Agglomerations of the golden mussel were observed in various natural and artificial substrates in all municipalities along the ...

Use of golden mussel and wattle tannin in the supply of cut chickens
This study aimed to evaluate the use of acacia tannin as a toxic metal adsorbent in the diets of broilers fed with the inclusion of golden mussel meal in substitution for calcitic limestone. In the first trial, 648 male 21-day-old animals were divided among six treatments and six replicates, with 18 birds per experimental unit, organized in a ...

Assessment of inorganic contaminants in golden mussel (Limnoperna fortunei) in Southern Brazil [PDF]
Major and trace element content was determined in golden mussel (Limnoperna fortunei) collected in the Sao Goncalo Channel (Rio Grande City, Brazil). A microwave-assisted digestion procedure in closed vessels was applied to mussel decomposition and subsequent determination of elements by spectrometric techniques.

Modelling the Ecological Effect of the Golden Mussel Invasion in Uruguay River
Abstract The invasion of exotic species in aquatic environments is one of the several factors responsible for altering the dynamics of fish communities. The golden mussel Limnoperna fortunei was first recorded in the upper Uruguay river, Brazil in 2012 and since then there is an open need to discuss and evaluate how this invasive species interferes ...
