Scissors Congruence, the Golden Ratio and Volumes in Hyperbolic 5-Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
By different scissors congruence techniques a number of dissection identities are presented between certain quasi-Coxeter polytopes, whose parameters are related to the golden section, and an ideal regular simplex in hyperbolic 5-space. As a consequence,

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Appendix 6 : The New Member States and the Stability and Growth Pact : Needs for adapting in the prospect of euro area membership [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The New Member States (NMS) have to comply with the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP) rules: public deficits below 3% of GDP and public debts below 60% of GDP, although they cannot be subject to fines as long as they are not members of the euro area.

On‐Demand Activation of Thin Alginate Shell Encapsulated Volatile Liquid for Untethered Pneumatic Soft Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐changing liquids enable untethered pneumatic actuation in soft robotics but suffer from volatility and storage challenges. This work reports a simple method to encapsulate Novec 7000 within micron‐thin alginate shells via in situ injection and ionic crosslinking.

Outlier Detection and Explanation Method Based on FOLOF Algorithm

open access: yesEntropy
Outlier mining constitutes an essential aspect of modern data analytics, focusing on the identification and interpretation of anomalous observations. Conventional density-based local outlier detection methodologies frequently exhibit limitations due to ...

Global analysis of the growth and cycles of multi-sector economies with constant returns: A turnpike approach [PDF]

open access: yes
In Section 1, we explain the neoclassical optimal growth model, which includes multi capital goods, and is derived from neoclassical production functions; the transformations to the reduced model are also explained.

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Geometric Analysis of Mass Formation and Proportions in Combined Function Buildings in Anatolian Seljuk Architecture

open access: yesArt-Sanat
Throughout the Anatolian Seljuk Period, numerous examples of buildings with combined functions were built. The precise proportions or design decisions that underlie the division of various functional masses in combined-function buildings are unknown. The

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.
