Fractal algorithms for finding global optimal solutions [PDF]
For solving constrained nonlinear optimization problems, a new algorithm, which is called Fractal Algorithm, is presented. Feasible region is partitioned by fractal combining with golden section.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Performance of Turbo-Codes with Some Proposed Interleaver Schemes
This paper describes a number of new interleaving strategies based on the golden section. The new interleavers are called golden relative prime interleavers, golden interleavers, and dithered golden interleavers. The latter two approaches involve sorting

Scissors Congruence, the Golden Ratio and Volumes in Hyperbolic 5-Space [PDF]
By different scissors congruence techniques a number of dissection identities are presented between certain quasi-Coxeter polytopes, whose parameters are related to the golden section, and an ideal regular simplex in hyperbolic 5-space. As a consequence,

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

THE GOLDEN SECTION IN THE MEASUREMENT THEORY
AbstractThe main ideas and results of the algorithmic measurement theory, i.e. the constructive trend in the mathematic measurement theory are discussed. The theory in question dates back to the problem of choosing the best system of scale weights (Fibonacci, thirteenth century).

A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Appendix 6 : The New Member States and the Stability and Growth Pact : Needs for adapting in the prospect of euro area membership. [PDF]
The New Member States (NMS) have to comply with the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP) rules: public deficits below 3% of GDP and public debts below 60% of GDP, although they cannot be subject to fines as long as they are not members of the euro area.
