Fish and freshwater crayfish communities of the Brunswick and Preston Rivers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Leschenault Inlet, located on the Swan Coastal Plain near Bunbury, is the estuary of the Brunswick, Collie, Preston and Ferguson Rivers. There is a considerable amount of information detailing the fish fauna of the Leschenault Inlet with Potter et al.

Adaptation in the goldfish retina [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, 1968
1. Isolated photopic goldfish retinas were stimulated and adapted by red light, and the spike activity of single ganglion cells was monitored by micro‐electrodes.2. A unit's threshold to illumination of one part of its receptive field was often raised by adapting spots which fell elsewhere.

The Formation of the Goldfish-Like Fish Derived From Hybridization of Female Koi Carp × Male Blunt Snout Bream

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2018
Goldfish (Carassius auratus var., GF; 2n = 100) is the most popular ornamental fish in the world. It is assumed that GF evolved from red crucian carp (C. auratus red var., RCC; 2n = 100). However, this hypothesis lacks direct evidence.

Tyrosinase Activity in Goldfish Skin.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1966
SummaryThe tyrosinase activity in 4 varieties of goldfish (Carassius auratus L.), white, xanthic, grey and black moor, was determined. Tyrosinase activity occurred in both the soluble and particulate fractions of skin homogenates. Total tyrosinase activity was increased in both fractions with increasing melanin pigmentation.

Passive immunisation of goldfish with the serum of those surviving a Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 infection after high temperature water treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Herpesviral haematopoietic necrosis of goldfish caused by cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) can be controlled by raising water temperature to a virus non-permissive temperature of 34℃.

The Effects of Different Carotenoid Sources on Skin Pigmentation of Goldfish (Carassius auratus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different carotenoid sources on goldfish (Carassius auratus) skin pigmentation. The value of goldfish depends on the intensity of the skin color.

The effects of thyme oil extract to reduce toxic effects of Nanosilver on growth factors and serum biochemical in goldfish (Carassius auratus gibelio) [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2016
In this study, we divided 300 goldfish (average weight: 12.30 ± 2.11 g) into 4 groups. Fish were fed diets that contained 4 levels of thyme extract: 0 (control), 200, 400 and 800 mg/kg (Thyame, LN23IN, France) for a period of 2 weeks.

Modulation of a sustained calcium current by intracellular pH in horizontal cells of fish retina. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A sustained high voltage-activated (HVA), nifedipine- and cadmium-sensitive calcium current and a sustained calcium action potential (AP) were recorded from horizontal cells isolated from catfish retina.
