Hole dynamics in noble metals [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 85, 3241 (2000), 2000
We present a detailed analysis of hole dynamics in noble metals (Cu and Au), by means of first-principles many-body calculations. While holes in a free-electron gas are known to live shorter than electrons with the same excitation energy, our results indicate that d-holes in noble metals exhibit longer inelastic lifetimes than excited sp-electrons, in ...

Agreement of Serial iCare HOME2 and Goldmann Applanation Tonometry

open access: hybridOphthalmology Glaucoma
To assess agreement of iCare HOME2 and Goldmann applanation tonometry over a wide range of intraocular pressure (IOP).A prospective, observational cohort study.Twenty-six adult patients undergoing intravitreal injection, which temporarily raises IOP, were recruited from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Retina Clinic between October 2022 and February ...

Evidence of Water-related Discrete Trap State Formation in Pentacene Single Crystal Field-Effect Transistors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report on the generation of a discrete trap state during negative gate bias stress in pentacene single crystal "flip-crystal" field-effect transistors with a SiO2 gate dielectric. Trap densities of up to 2*10^12 cm^-2 were created in the experiments. Trap formation and trap relaxation are distinctly different above and below ~280 K.

Future Research Perspective on the Interfacial Physics of Non-Invasive Glaucoma Testing in Pathogen Transmission from the Eyes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Non-contact Tonometry (NCT) is a non-invasive ophthalmologic technique to measure intraocular pressure (IOP) using an air puff for routine glaucoma testing. Although IOP measurement using NCT has been perfected over many years, various phenomenological aspects of interfacial physics, fluid structure interaction, waves on corneal surface, and pathogen ...

One tube for all: 1‐year outcomes after transition to Paul glaucoma implant at a tertiary centre

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering effect and success rate of Paul glaucoma implant (PGI) in refractory glaucoma after changing practice pattern from Ahmed and Baerveldt tubes to PGI. Methods A prospective observational study of the first 50 consecutive PGI surgeries at a single Danish tertiary centre from January 2022

Rebound tonometry versus Goldmann tonometry in school children: feasibility and agreement of intraocular pressure measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Purpose: High intraocular pressure (IOP) is an important risk factor for a variety of pediatric ophthalmic conditions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility, length of examination, and corneal epithelial damage induced by rebound ...

Possibilities of monitoring intraocular pressure using a transpalpebral scleral tonometry in cases of corneal and ocular surface pathology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Cornea and ocular surface specialists need a form of tonometry for those cases where it is not possible to use Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) on the cornea. There are many situations in which the condition of the cornea prevents adequate monitoring

Secondary ocular hypertension as an adverse effect of treatment with intravitreal dexamethasone implant: A retrospective Swedish cohort study

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the incidence and risk factors for secondary ocular hypertension (SOHT) following intravitreal dexamethasone implants (Ozurdex®) in patients with diabetic macular oedema (DME) and macular oedema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) in a Swedish cohort.
