The effect of citrus essential oil encapsulation on antioxidant capacity and bacterial growth in a milk matrix during storage

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND The functionality of food can be improved by supplementing it with bioactive substances. However, the interactions between these substances and food components can compromise their functional efficacy. This study investigated the potential to reduce functional losses by encapsulating citrus essential oil (CEO) in zein particles (ZPs)

The dynamics analysis of Gompertz virus disease model under impulsive control

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The pandemic of Gompertz virus disease remains a pressing issue in agricultural production. Moreover, the dynamics of various infectious diseases is usually investigated by the method of mathematical modelling.

Using air thermal time to predict the time course of seedling emergence of Avena sterilis subsp. sterilis (sterile oat) under Mediterranean climate

open access: yesAIMS Agriculture and Food, 2022
Avena sterilis subsp. sterilis (sterile oat) is a troublesome grass weed of winter cereals both in its native range encompassing the Mediterranean up to South Asia, and in regions of America, Northern Europe and Australia where it is introduced. A better

Broadband modelling of short gamma-ray bursts with energy injection from magnetar spin-down and its implications for radio detectability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The magnetar model has been proposed to explain the apparent energy injection in the X-ray light curves of short gamma-ray bursts (SGRBs), but its implications across the full broadband spectrum are not well explored.

Gompertz software reliability model: Estimation algorithm and empirical validation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systems and Software, 2009
Gompertz curve has been used to estimate the number of residual faults in testing phases of software development, especially by Japanese software development companies. Since the Gompertz curve is a deterministic function, the curve cannot be applied to estimating software reliability which is the probability that software system does not fail in a ...

Extending the hyper‐logistic model to the random setting: New theoretical results with real‐world applications

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
We develop a full randomization of the classical hyper‐logistic growth model by obtaining closed‐form expressions for relevant quantities of interest, such as the first probability density function of its solution, the time until a given fixed population is reached, and the population at the inflection point.

On Bivariate Exponentiated Extended Weibull Family of Distributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we introduce a new class of bivariate distributions called the bivariate exponentiated extended Weibull distributions. The model introduced here is of Marshall-Olkin type.

On Order Restricted Inference in Multi‐Step Stage Life Testing for a General Family of Distributions

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recently, k$$ k $$‐step stage life testing (SLT) has been proposed by Laumen and Cramer (2021) as a natural extension of progressive censoring with fixed censoring times (PC‐FCT) as well as of simple step‐stress accelerated life testing (SSALT).

Advancing Sclerotinia risk forecasting for winter rapeseed in Germany: integrating crop phenology and disease development into a decision support system

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Integrating crop phenology and sclerotia germination models into SkleroPro improved Sclerotinia risk prediction accuracy from 34% to 66%, optimizing fungicide timing and supporting sustainable winter rapeseed production. Abstract BACKGROUND Sclerotinia stem rot, caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, threatens winter rapeseed (Brassica napus) production ...
