The effectiveness of hybridization barriers determines whether two species remain reproductively isolated when their populations come into contact. We investigated acoustic mating signals and associated leg movements responsible for song creation of hybrids between the grasshopper species Chorthippus biguttulus and C.

The complete nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Gomphocerus tibetanus Uvarov, 1935 (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) was determined. It is 15,571 bp in length and contains 74.8% A+T. All Gomphocerus tibetanus protein-coding sequences start with a typical ATN codon.

Variation in sperm precedence in Chorthippus grasshoppers (Caelifera: Gomphocerinae)
Physiological Entomology, 2000Summary Variation in the proportions of offspring fathered by a second male to mate (the P 2 value) has been studied in two species of grasshoppers, Chorthippus parallelus (Zetterstedt) and Ch. biguttulus

We examined the effect of agrochemical pollution/fertilisation of the soil and climatic conditions at high altitudes on fluctuating asymmetry (FA) level in hindfemur and forewing lengths of the grasshopper Chorthippus parallelus (Zetterstedt). All traits and samples exhibited ideal FA. Forewings, which are less functionally significant in this species,

Molecular phylogeny of Palaearctic genera of Gomphocerinae grasshoppers (Orthoptera, Acrididae)
Systematic Entomology, 2005Abstract. Molecular phylogenetic methods were used to examine morphologically based hypotheses concerning the taxonomic structure and relationships of the grasshopper subfamily Gomphocerinae. Two mitochondrial gene (cytochrome b and cytochrome oxidase subunit I) sequences were determined for twenty‐five species

A new species of genus Aeropedellus (Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) from China
ZootaxaThe genus Aeropedellus (Hebard, 1935) was established in 1935 and is widely distributed across the Palearctic region, with 22 known species. A new species, Aeropedellus ganziensis Chen & Li sp. nov., has been collected in the Ganzi, Sichuan, China.

Six Anatolian and one European populations of the Myrmeleotettix maculatus species group, which contains M. maculatus and M. ethicus species, have been studied by using molecular genetics methods with mitochondrial COI gene. Myrmeleotettix ethicus is an Anatolian endemic species with local distribution whereas M.
