Phylogenetic and phylogeographic analysis of Myrmeleotettix maculatus (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) species group in Anatolia

Zootaxa, 2021
Six Anatolian and one European populations of the Myrmeleotettix maculatus species group, which contains M. maculatus and M. ethicus species, have been studied by using molecular genetics methods with mitochondrial COI gene. Myrmeleotettix ethicus is an Anatolian endemic species with local distribution whereas M.

Molecular phylogeny of Palaearctic genera of Gomphocerinae grasshoppers (Orthoptera, Acrididae)

Systematic Entomology, 2005
Abstract.  Molecular phylogenetic methods were used to examine morphologically based hypotheses concerning the taxonomic structure and relationships of the grasshopper subfamily Gomphocerinae. Two mitochondrial gene (cytochrome b and cytochrome oxidase subunit I) sequences were determined for twenty‐five species

Variation in sperm precedence in Chorthippus grasshoppers (Caelifera: Gomphocerinae)

Physiological Entomology, 2000
Summary Variation in the proportions of offspring fathered by a second male to mate (the P 2 value) has been studied in two species of grasshoppers, Chorthippus parallelus (Zetterstedt) and Ch. biguttulus

Communicative aspects of reproductive behaviour in Australian grasshoppers (Oedipodinae and Gomphocerinae)

Australian Journal of Zoology, 1972
Communicative behaviour of nine species of Australian grasshoppers (seven Oedipodinae and two Gomphocerinae) is described and compared to North American and European species. Most signal types are represented in all three continents. Most similarities between the three groups are probably due to the retention of characteristics present in common ...

Control mechanisms of the behavior ?secondary defense? in the grasshopper Gomphocerus rufus L. (Gomphocerinae: Orthoptera)

Journal of Comparative Physiology A, 1996
In the female grasshopper Gomphocerus rufus mating elicits 'secondary defense' which makes remating impossible. The behavioral change is caused by the liquid white secretions, proteins of less than 90 kD, which are produced by the white tubuli of the male's accessory glands.

The occurrence of an additional instar in the development ofChorthippus brunneus(Orthoptera: Gomphocerinae)

Journal of Natural History, 1987
In two populations of Chorthippus brunneus in the Breckland district of East Anglia an additional instar is interposed between instars II and III during the development of female nymphs. The IIa nymph occurs with a frequency approaching 100%, in both heavily and very lightly grazed grasslands.

Chorthippus bornhalmi in the heart of the Balkans (Acrididae: Gomphocerinae)

Articulata (Erlangen), 2015
New records of Chorthippus bornhalmi in the Balkans are presented. The grasshopper is reported from 7 localities from the protected landscape of Vlasina in SE Serbia, representing the first records for Serbia. The new records of the species are discussed and bioacoustical information and general distribution is presented.

Stable and variable parameters in courtship songs of grasshoppers of the subfamily Gomphocerinae (Orthoptera, Acrididae)

Зоологический журнал, 2013
The courtship behavior of seven grasshopper species of the subfamily Gomphocerinae from different localities of Russia, Ukraine and Greece was described. Not only the sounds but also the corresponding stridulatory movements of the hind legs and visual display accompanying the courtship song were analyzed.
