Effects of copper on hepatosomatic index, gonadosomatic index and condition factor of Oreochromis niloticus (L. 1758)

2019
The effects of copper on gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic indices and on condition factor of Oreochromis niloticus were studied by exposing the animals to 0.1 mg/L Cu for 30 days. The mentioned indices and condition factor were calculated using standard formulas. No mortality was observed during the experiments. Copper increased the hepatosomatic index,

Comparing histology and gonadosomatic index for determining spawning condition of small‐bodied riverine fishes

Ecology of Freshwater Fish, 2007
Abstract –  We compared gonadosomatic index (GSI) and histological analysis of ovaries for identifying reproductive periods of fishes to determine the validity of using GSI in future studies. Four small‐bodied riverine species were examined in our comparison of the two methods.

GONADOSOMATIC INDEX AND SPAWNING SEASON IN FRESHWATER CATFISH NOTOPTERUS NOTOPTERUS (HAMILTON)

2010
In the present investigation the gonadosornatic index (GSI) and spawning season of freshwater catfish A’ o! oplerus noloplel-us (Hamilton) from Bhima river. Dist. l’une. Maharashtra were studied. Observations on the variations in seasonal fluctuations ¡n the GSI confirmed that the spawning period begins in .IuI.

Pituitary gonadotropin content and gonadosomatic index in Clarias batrachus a fresh water teleost.

Endokrinologie, 1981
The pituitary gonadotropin content in Clarias batrachus was determined by radiophosphorus assay in chicks. The levels in spawning male, post spawning male, spawning female and post spawning female were found to be 65.66, 27.7, 36.69 and 49.98 micrograms LH activity/kg body weight respectively. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) in the above groups was found

Male reproductive output and sperm competition as indicated by gonadosomatic index in Paddlefish stocks

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society
Abstract Objective We investigated if large Paddlefish Polyodon spathula invest in testis weight disproportionately more than smaller males, as expressed by the gonadosomatic index (GSI). The approach was to assess the relation between testis weight F (i.e., the combined weight of both testes) and ...

Study of ova diameter, fecundity and gonadosomatic index of Schizothorax esocinus from Kashmir valley

SKUAST Journal of Research
AbstractInvestigations on reproductive biology of fishes are crucial for their effective conservation and management. The study investigated some reproductive characters of Schizothorax esocinus, which is an indigenous snow trout of Kashmir. Results were arrived at by studying thirty samples, in which 17 were males and 13 were females, collected from ...

Cycles of gonadosomatic index of sea urchins (Paracentrotus lividus Arbacia lixula) in Urla-Iskele.

2015

SEASONAL GONADOSOMATIC INDEX OF THE URCHINS ARBACIA LIXULA AND PARACENTROTUS LIVIDUS FROM SOUTHERN ISTRIA

Book of Abstracts of the 15th Croatian Biological Congress
The results of this study present the gonadosomatic index (GSI) of sea urchins Arbacia lixula and Paracentrotus lividus from the southern Istrian coast. The sea urchins were seasonally sampled at two locations: Lungomare, Pula and Palera, Ližnjan. The GSI values of A.

Effects of zinc and cadmium on condition factor, hepatosomatic and gonadosomatic index of Oreochromis niloticus

2019
Effects of Zn and Cd on condition factor (CF), hepatosomatic (HIS) and gonadosomatic (GSI) of Oreochromis niloticus, after exposing the animals to 10 % of their LC50 values, namely 6.0 ppm Zn and 1.6 ppm Cd, over 7, 15, and 30 days. Standard mathematical formulations were used in determining the mentioned parameters.
