Carbon Black Nanoparticles Selectively Alter Follicle-Stimulating Hormone Expression in vitro and in vivo in Female Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2021
Toxic effects of nanoparticles on female reproductive health have been documented but the underlying mechanisms still need to be clarified. Here, we investigated the effect of carbon black nanoparticles (CB NPs) on the pituitary gonadotropins ...

Activation of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Neurons by Kisspeptin as a Neuroendocrine Switch for the Onset of Puberty

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2005
We examined the role of kisspeptin and its receptor, the G-protein-coupled receptor GPR54, in governing the onset of puberty in the mouse. In the adult male and female mouse, kisspeptin (10–100 nm) evoked a remarkably potent, long-lasting depolarization ...

Disruption of Pituitary Gonadotrope Activity in Male Rats After Short- or Long-Term High-Fat Diets Is Not Associated With Pituitary Inflammation

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
Overnutrition is associated with the activation of inflammatory pathways in metabolically linked organs and an early hypothalamic inflammation is now known to disrupt the central control of metabolic function. Because we demonstrated that fatty acids (FA)

The complementary effect of melatonin in accelerating ovulation and spawning of the Javaen barb Systomus rubripinnis (Valenciennes 1842) [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The Javaen barb Systomus rubripinnis is an endemic fish not domesticated in Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gonadotropin and melatonin hormones in inducing ovulation of female Javaen barb. A total of 12 female fish (BW: 142.12

Early adolescence assessment of eleven boys treated with continuous subcutaneous infusion of recombinant LH and FSH during infancy

open access: yesEndocrine Connections
We previously observed that continuous subcutaneous gonadotropin infusion (CSGI) in infants with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) can mimic minipuberty.

Does Islamic Fasting Affect Gonadotropin around Female Ovulation? [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fertility and Sterility, 2010
Background The pattern of Islamic fasting differs from other forms of fasting, therefore its effect on health also differs. This research studies the effect of Islamic fasting on gonadotropin hormones around the time of the ovulatory cycle and ovulation.

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.
