Nap1L4a Cooperates with Scl/Klf1 to Recruit H2A.Z in Mediating Interactions Among Cis‐Regulatory Elements and Transcription Required for Primitive Erythropoiesis in Zebrafish

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nap1l4a is required in erythropoiesis and hypoxia responses via physical interaction with Klf1 and Scl to recruit the histone variant H2A.Z. This facilitates its associated cis‐regulatory element (CRE) remodeling and the consequent chromatin assembly, and activates the transcription of erythroid lineage‐specific genes.

Hungry for Knowledge: Octopamine Signaling Regulates Hunger‐Enhanced Olfactory Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers demonstrate that hunger state facilitates both aversive and appetitive olfactory learning. Two distinct octopamine signaling pathways are involved in aversive or appetitive memory formation in the hunger state. And, hunger state also facilitates the formation of both types of memories via an evolutionarily conserved norepinephrine (the ...

A multi-exon deletion within WWOX is associated with a 46,XY disorder of sex development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Disorders of sex development (DSD) are congenital conditions where chromosomal, gonad or genital development is atypical. In a significant proportion of 46,XY DSD cases it is not possible to identify a causative mutation, making genetic counseling ...

Targeting the CMKLR1‐Mediated Signaling Rebalances Immunometabolism State in Middle‐Age Testicular Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In middle age, testicular CMKLR1⁺ macrophages exhibited a pro‐inflammatory immunometabolic profile, mediated by adipose signals associated with high BMI. However, inhibition of CMKLR1 signaling, either through Cmklr1 genetic ablation or treatment with a CMKLR1 antagonist peptide, can reverse this phenotype.

Meta‐GWAS of Pig Semen Quality Traits Reveals Conserved Genes Regulating Mammalian Fertility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study incorporated 14 210 individuals to perform a GWAS meta‐analysis of six semen quality traits. The GWAS meta‐analysis identifies 234 GWAS loci associated with semen quality traits. The incorporation with a functional genomics resource explains potential genetic regulation of ∼40% GWAS signals underlying semen quality traits.

Reproductive aspects of an isolated population of Psalidodon aff. fasciatus (Teleostei: Characidae) from southern Brazil

open access: yesActa Limnologica Brasiliensia, 2023
: Aim To investigate reproductive characteristics in a small population of Psalidodon aff. fasciatus living in isolation in an environment with a unique geological configuration, a doline-shaped depression (known as Furna 2), with a mean diameter of 80 ...

Occurrence of Philometra lateolabracis (Nematoda: Philometridae) in the gonads of marine perciform fishes in the Mediterranean region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Gravid females of the nematode Philometra lateolabracis (Yamaguti, 1935), a parasite of gonads of marine perciform fishes, were found in wild and cultured dusky grouper Epinephelus marginatus (Lowe) from waters near the Balear Islands (Spain ...

Comparative Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Atlas Reveals the Genetic Regulation of Reproductive Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cross‐species single‐cell transcriptomic atlas of reproductive and central nervous system tissues from sheep and humans reveals conserved cellular programs and regulatory networks that regulated fertility. Integration with GWAS for sheep lifetime average litter size identifies UNC5–SLIT–BMP signaling as a core pathway coordinating neuroendocrine ...
