ABSTRACT In the Recôncavo Basin, Northeast of Brazil, mud diapirs have been reported for decades, but their role within the basin's petroleum system remains poorly constrained. Here, we combine 2D seismic interpretation, field observations, and organic geochemical analyses of rocks and oil seeps to investigate the relationship between diapirism and ...

Pterosaur teeth from the Southern Neuquén Basin (Patagonia, Argentina): New insights on the reconstruction of ornithocheiriform dental anatomy [PDF]
The pterosaur fossil record of Argentina is increasing in recent times, both in the number of localities and their temporal range. The new materials are found in levels that span from the Late Triassic to the Late Cretaceous in age.

Cyrioctea (Araneae, Zodariidae) in Africa: temperate Gondwanaland relict, recent radiation, or both? [PDF]
Two new species of the zodariid genus Cyrioctea Simon, 1889 are described: C. sawadee sp. nov. and C. lotzi sp. nov., both only known from males. The genus now contains seven Afrotropical species and this abundance is discussed in the context of its ...

First direct evidence for a contiguous Gondwana shelf to the south of the Rheic Ocean
Sea-level rise after the Hirnantian glaciation resulted in the global inundation of continental shelf areas and the widespread formation of early Silurian black shales.

ABSTRACT Thin ferruginous sandy crusts are common on top of sandstone beds in the Early Permian post‐glacial deposits of the Paraná Basin in southern Brazil. These crusts usually preserve wrinkle structures, suggesting that they might be a product of microbial mediation.

Detrital zircon SHRIMP U-Pb age study of the Cordillera Darwin Metamorphic Complex of Tierra del Fuego : sedimentary sources and implications for the evolution of the Pacific margin of Gondwana [PDF]
The Cordillera Darwin Metamorphic Complex in the southernmost Andes includes a basement of probable Palaeozoic age, a mid-Jurassic and younger volcano-sedimentary cover, and a suite of Jurassic granites, all of which were jointly metamorphosed during the

Detrital Zircons Dismember Sibumasu in East Gondwana
Sibumasu is inferred to have developed as a united terrane in East Gondwana, with West Sumatra linked to Cathaysia. New detrital zircon U‐Pb and Hf isotopic data from Sumatra, complemented by literature data, challenge the above views.

Overture for the Mandara and Vasuki Plates
Models of past plate motions in the Indian Ocean help map the supercontinent Gondwana and investigate how mantle plumes influence plate tectonics. Reducing confidence in this, however, the range of available models all produce large pre-94 Ma movements ...
