Mandibular rami osteotomies and their effect on the gonial angle
International Journal of Oral Surgery, 1981Radiation-induced obliterative endarteritis causes ischemia and hypoxia in tissue wounds, making them prone to dehiscence, infection and delayed healing. The successful use of hyperbaric oxygen as an adjunct to intensive antibiotic and surgical therapy in the treatment of radionecrosis of the mandible is well established.

The increased gonial angle in micrognathism
American Journal of Orthodontics, 1953Abstract 1. 1. The normal mandible has an angle of about 125 degrees between the ramus and the body. 2. 2. Many cases of moderate micrognathism show this angle to be increased as much as 150 degrees. Associated with this increase is a constant esthetic deformity of an excessive superior-inferior length giving the appearance of a “lantern jaw.”

Gonial angle distortion in lateral head films: A methodologic study
American Journal of Orthodontics, 1977The distortion of the gonial angle in lateral roentgenographic head films was studied in skull material. The left and the right gonial angles were determined craniometrically and roentgenocephalometrically, and the observations were compared. Mean difference of 8.48 degrees and 5.15 degrees between the roentgenocephalometric and the craniometric ...

Estimation of the gonial angle from the orthopantomogram.
Gifu Shika Gakkai zasshi = The Journal of Gifu Dental Society, 1992We set a new basic plane on an orthopantomogram in order to measure the gonial angle and obtained the following: 1) Usable error difference in ordinary clinical setting ranged from 0.5 degrees-1.0 degree. 2) Because there is no great difference between the levels of the gonial on orthopantomograms, they are effective for investigation of the changes of

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery
Facial feminization surgery (FFS) is a type of gender-affirming surgery aimed at bringing masculine facial features more in line with typically feminine characteristics. Specifically, mandibular contouring can create a softer jawline and help create a more round, feminine face.

Gonial angle measures in Medieval and contemporary skeletons
We aimed to test the possible differences in gonial angle values between a Medieval sample and a contemporary sample because literature suggests that modern skulls tend to have larger gonial angles. We analyzed the gonial angle values in a Medieval sample (n=69) and a current sample (20th century sample; n=146).Faus-Valero, Borja +6 more
