Real‐Time Monitoring of Mass and Mechanical Properties in Single Cells and Multicellular Spheroids

This study introduces photothermally actuated microcantilevers combined with optical microscopy to simultaneously measure morphology, mass, and mechanical properties of cellular systems in real‐time. The findings link cytoplasm‐dominated mechanical energy dissipation to the Q‐factor as a novel biophysical parameter.

Curvature‐Directed Elongation and Chiral Tilting Drive Asymmetric Tissue Patterning

Curvature and cell handedness together break tissue symmetry. On convex and concave surfaces, cells elongate along opposite geometric axes and tilt in a consistent chirality‐driven direction, yielding opposite alignment patterns from the same cells. Reversing intrinsic cell chirality reverses both.

A coaxial, membrane‐integrated hollow fiber electrode assembly (HFEA) is developed for continuous marine carbon mineralization. By utilizing a sub‐millimeter inter‐electrode gap, the HFEA minimizes Ohmic losses, achieving 50% energy reduction and over 85% DIC removal.
