This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.

Iron‐based metallic glass alloys exhibit excellent soft‐magnetic properties, and unprecedented geometrical freedom in the design of soft‐magnetic metallic glass components is made possible by additive manufacturing. An efficient workflow for developing parameters for laser‐based powder bed fusion of a Fe‐based metallic glass alloy is presented along ...

Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

It appears to be with software architectures: for a given domain, even across the decades, forces are at play that are best resolved by a common architectural pattern that allows variants. One architectural style might be deemed "better" than another for that domain because it better resolves those forces. In that sense, there's a goodness of fit - not

Disorder (HD) is a complex mental health problem defined by an overabundance of clutter, difficulty with organization and discarding, and problems regulating acquisition. This chapter describes the features of HD, evidence-based intervention approaches and outcomes, and the elements of a manualized treatment approach with emphasis on flexible delivery ...
