Lateral Beam Shifts and Depolarization Upon Oblique Reflection from Dielectric Mirrors

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 536, Issue 6, June 2024.
Potential problems are investigated when dielectric mirrors are used at oblique incidence and found that light beams can experience lateral beam shifts, beam‐shape distortion, and depolarization, which are strongly dependent on wavelength, incident angle, and polarization.

Goos-Hänchen shift of Cosine-Gaussian Schell-model beams with rectangular symmetry

open access: yes, 2017
In this contribution we study the relation between the second order intensity moments and the Goos-Hanchen shift for partially coherent totally polarized beams.

Leaky Waves in Flatland

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 12, Issue 6, February 23, 2024.
The authors propose a flatland analog of conventional leaky waves, which can be supported by planar junctions of surface impedances. They develop a semi‐analytical model to describe this radiation mechanism and show how it can be exploited to attain highly directive in‐plane propagation.

Further Microwave Phase Measurements Associated with the Goos–Hänchen Shift

open access: yes, 1974
Recent microwave phase measurement of the Goos–Hänchen effect dealt only with perpendicularly polarized radiation. The investigation is now complete and results for the parallel polarization are presented.

High-Sensitivity Goos-Hänchen Shifts Sensor Based on BlueP-TMDCs-Graphene Heterostructure

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) with two-dimensional (2D) materials is proposed to enhance the sensitivity of sensors. A novel Goos–Hänchen (GH) shift sensing scheme based on blue phosphorene (BlueP)/transition metal dichalogenides (TMDCs) and graphene ...

Polarization-dependent Goos-Hänchen shift at a graded dielectric interface

open access: yes, 2010
\u3cp\u3eWe examine the polarization differential Goos-Hänchen beam shift upon total internal reflection, for a graded-index dielectric interface. We find a generic scaling law where the magnitude of this shift depends solely on the product of wavelength

Negative Goos-Hanchen shift in periodic media

open access: yes, 2011
We show that, under certain conditions, a negative Goos–Hänchen shift—a longitudinal displacement of a totally internally reflected wave packet—occurs in periodic media such as waveguide arrays.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published ...

Quantum Goos-Hänchen switch in graphene junctions

open access: yes, 2023
Goos-Hänchen (GH) shift, an interference phenomenon describing the lateral shift of the reflected beam along the interface during total internal reflection, has attracted great interests in the field of quantum transport in two-dimensional materials.

Vortex of beam shift induced by mono-chiral interface states

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
If an electron beam hits onto the interface of a Weyl-node-mismatch junction, a shift of the beam center on the interface happens when the beam is reflected or transmitted, where the junction consists of two materials of the same Weyl semimetal and one ...

Comment on "Control of the Goos-Hänchen shift using a duplicated two-level atomic medium"

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceThe recent paper by Ziauddin and Qamar [Phys. Rev. A 85, 055804 (2012)] proposes control of the Goos-Hänchen shift of a Gaussian field incident on a cavity containing duplicated two-level atoms.
